Description

Evolved from mountain unicorns, they're mammals with tiny dainty feet who can breathe little gusts of wind. In the wild they generally spend their time bounding up mountains similar to  mountain goats. They have adapted horns and leghooks to be added as their means of self-defense from predators; they give them a nasty kick and headbutt when cornered. Though skittish creatures, they are friendly, intelligent companions once their trust has been earned.

They are typically utilized as mountain companions for travellers, as they can make decent beasts of burden, along with producing magical dew from their fur that can be consumed- and is often utilized by farmers as well. They don't tend to favor humans, but will tolerate them and can form friendships if treated properly.

They aren't particurally ambitious, and rarely set out to do much other than survive and be left alone. It's not unheard of for larger individuals to be ridden as mounts for humans- but most are too small to make proper rideable animals.

Origins

Kirix are direct descendants of mountain unicorns who developed thick fur, smaller bodies, and a greater ability to scale the cold mountain enviornments. They still possess remnants of their ancient powers of wind, but for the most part are similarly seen as mountain goats.

They are sometimes kept by herders or farmers, but are a bit too big to be considered typical household pets.
