his magical appearance is the same as above, except…
✨ personality ✨
Ray is the quintessential gifted kid — smart as a whip, awkward as hell, and completely and utterly burnt out. Years of emotional neglect and punishing degree paths has made his socialization skills nonexistent, turning him into the weirdo in the corner with a death grip on a SOLO cup. Ray is perpetually caught in an internal tug o' war. A consummate perfectionist, but only in the handful of things he actually cares about, fully willing to let everything else slide. Desiring some kind, any kind of recognition, but instantly dying inside once he actually gets it. Wanting closer relationships with people, but unable (or unwilling?) to shake his haughty demeanor. His alter ego, however, seems to have exactly zero of these hang-ups. Renegade is gregarious where Ray clams up, show-offy where Ray squirrels himself away, and smug as hell where Ray tries to rein it in. Renegade is a wild card, doing whatever he wants, when he wants, but he's far more amenable to offering and accepting help than his civilian counterpart. 🔮 trivia 🔮favorites

⚡ history ⚡When Rayvaun lost his mother, he might as well have lost his father, too. The child of an average middle-class family, Ray's happy childhood was cut short when his mother was killed by a drunk driver. His father, never giving himself or his son time to heal from grief, met and married a new woman within a year. With his dad's increasing indifference towards him and his step-mother's insistence on playing happy family (something that she made clear didn't include him), the rest of Ray's life went to shit very quickly. Even at his young age, Ray quickly noticed how much of an afterthought he was to his new family. His step-siblings (and later half-siblings) were spoiled to high-heaven and given whatever they asked for, while he had to beg, borrow, and steal for clothes and school supplies. He threw himself into his classes and homework, consistently getting high marks and being invited to academic competitions, running himself ragged to get his parents' attention again. Nothing worked... ...until senior year of high school, when his step-mom flipped a switch and was suddenly interested in parenting him, becoming a sort of stage mom obsessively keeping track of his academic prowess. Ray was overjoyed to someone paying attention to him, despite the voice in the back of his head telling him that something wasn't right. When college decision time came around, Ray admitted that he had no clue what to go to college for and his step-mom needled him about going for a medical degree and becoming a doctor. Initially unsure but not wanting to lose this newfound favor, he soon agreed. It is in the days before his college graduation ceremony, years later — the culmination of all the grueling academic grunt work for his bachelor's — that his family's callousness finally pushes him over the edge and he makes a decision that severs his ties with them for good... ✨ relationships ✨
