Personality and Brief Backstory
Ozy Mandi (Or just "Ozy", as those close to him prefer) is a noble denizen of Mobius who was banished after his first love died when Dark Gaia was awakened prematurely during the events of Sonic Unleashed. He was once the crown prince of his home and despite being kicked out and disowned with the expectations of his death, Ozy as a character is a man who has gone through many a personal trial to free himself from his grief in the hopes to find happiness again. During his banishment and road of self-redemption, he has done things he is not proud of; stealing (even if it was to give to the poor who need it most), killing people who didn't deserve it out of self defense, many an attempt at womanizing where he felt no joy, and many more sins. Ozy has had an extremely rough life prior to his encounters with Team Protostar.
The Relationship Between Ozy and Ruby Moon
The relationship Ozy has with Ruby is something that ultimately brings his life to two completely different happy endings, even in a timeline where he doesn't end up with her. For the most part, their meetings would stay the same; Ozy would attempt to catch Ruby off guard many a time before his past would be revealed to her. A path that would lead him to learn how kind and loved Roobius was. In both scenarios, he ends up becoming an unofficial member of Team Protostar. At the same time, however, certain events do not happen. (Which would alter who the Speed member of G2 ends up being) After his final 1-on-1 fight with Ruby, events diverge in this manner:
• The events of Ruby's canon lover and marriage
While it is the least eventful of the two (as Ozy does not confess his love to Ruby), Ozy finally moving on stays the same. He would still aid in the defeat of Miasmat, and take the place of Ruby whenever she falls ill. However, his tale would mostly be over in the form of the Rock Kingdom taking him in so that he can find a new life there and (hopefully) find love again there for helping Ruby, even if it means moving on from his royal upbringing. Ruby would not be available during the events of Arc V. Ozy does still help Ruby, Marzipan and Amber after Arc IV in this series of events, so it's not all that bad.
• The events of Ozy's marriage to Ruby Moon
Ozy confesses his love to Ruby after a long silence of personal reflection, and they begin preparations to reform her Kingdom's government after the defeat of Miasmat. Ruby and Ozy would not be available for the events of Arc V, as they would be having their own adventures on the side after their wedding; specifically tying up loose ends in a war with the very family who disowned Ozy and freeing Shamar's populace. In this series of events, Ozy and Ruby become the new king and queen of the Rock Kingdom and give a chance birth to a beautiful baby girl whose first name is given to honor the memory of Ozy's first lover; Nefertari Moon. Ozy is also considered extended family as an unofficial Team Protostar member in this scenario.
On both fronts, the first generation of Team Protostar would still be overwhelmed into retirement by Galaxina's actions so that a better prepared second generation can (hopefully) take her down.

The torment he feels from losing his first wife before he could marry, his negative post-banishment actions (even ones that are technically positive and help others), Dark Gaia (gained a strong hatred for Mobius' deity of darkness after its pre-mature awakening killed his first wife before he could marry), and his own biological family (especially his father, due to being the son of a stubborn ticking timebomb of a tyrant)
