Mheetu manages to track down Kopa after the prince runs away, but by time he reaches him they're utterly lost; they join a pride of wandering rogue males as they're not safe alone from being so young. He has to essentially babysit Kopa to avoid him getting into fights constantly.
While he does have mountain lion blood in him, his white fur is from leucism.
