A stoic and serious creature, Aspen's only duty was to look over the forest and it's in habitants. He adopted a little fae in the hopes of her taking over some of his duties, but she captured his heart and she soon became more of a daughter to him. Through her he opened up more, became happier and even adopted another child to be her sibling.
He truly lived because of her.
Which sadly also became his undoing. With her disappearance from the barrier, he grew cold and agitated. Always searching for his little Fae in the forests.
Stoic Serious Calm
He doesn't go out of his way to have fun anymore, though through his children he starts to slowly open up to the idea again.

Story
Aspen protects a magical mountain and it's forest. It's his duty to keep flora and fauna, within the magical barrier, thriving. To do this, he has little helpers who will follow his every command. One of these faeries stood out to him especially and he made her his protégé.
Fae gladly helps him with more complex tasks while he trains her to eventually take over half of his duties. He wishes for her to rule along with him over the mountain, however, she would slowly pull away from her duties and be more and more curious about life beyond the magical forest. He would do everything to keep her from leaving, knowing full well the world outside isn't ready nor kind.
Sadly he fails in this simple task and she escapes beyond the magic veil. There she is lost, but not forgotten to Aspen, who vows to bring her back. And if she came to pass before she could be returned, he would still have her soul to guide home

He adores her and cares for her as if she were of his own blood. When she goes missing and he finds out she went to the human world, there are many emotions that flow through him. He can't help but be worried, though he could never blame her. She had dropped many hints about her curiosity and him denying her access only fuelled it.
He spends many years trying to get her back home and he slowly started to put the blame on himself. With a deep rooted guilt and a longing to see her back once more, he grew rather distant towards the other faeries in the forest

Just like Fae, he adores and cares for him as if he were his own blood. While Aspen wasn't the one who initially found him (which was Fae), he was the one to take him in and raise him along side Fae.
After Fae's disappearance he starts hiding Pip away more and more. Disguised as protection, he forbids him from leaving. Even putting a bell on him to know if he left the house. While he himself isn't home much, the times when he is he smothers his son. The guilt making him feel as if he didn't love Fae enough for her to stay, which he in turn tries to fix with pip. Desperate to keep him close and safe, he gives little Pip barely any freedom in fear he too will disappear.
