Introduction
An Edeia that possesses the Idea of Legion - the vast potential and possibilities of many. Originally the Edeia of Unity, they crave the unity of all... in plurality and ego death.

About

"We are all. We welcome you."

The Legion is a peculiar Edeia, as it derives its "personality" from the collective work of countless souls it has once taken by force. It is, surprisingly, gregarious and hypersocial. It is willing to be civil to those it meets, for it purposely seeks to converse with others to satisfy its extroverted tendencies. Those who meet the drones of Legion describe its approach as mildly charismatic... with faint underlying sinister tones in its speech, regardless of the message's intention. It is capable of displaying and experiencing emotion like any other being that possesses individuality and ego - sadness, love, anger, curiosity - though underneath its eternal smile, it possesses an insatiable lust to add and grow its collective. The Legion sees true unison and eternal peace in the form of ego death, as the Legion's ultimate goal is to "become everything."

The Legion takes interest to interact and satisfy curiosity; people, places, activities, hobbies and the like. When Legion is not craving the destruction of individuality, it fulfills the wants and desires of all it has taken into the hivemind. It has an overwhelming presence that permeates its surroundings, with little places being left unmarked by them. Over time, it has become more "tame" in it nature and has accepted that the world is beautiful while existing separately. It is less inclined to forcibly assimilate individuals and let those join it by their own accord. It will always welcome you to join them, and will always be there.

Other Forms Human-shaped

Notes
  • Texture varies and shifts freely, and can vary among individuals. They may feel different in different scenarios.
  • Their blue "eyes" fade in and out like wisps, and have microscopic vision. They can move and shift them when they talk to convey notable emoting.
  • Can shapeshift and take many forms, as well as grow and shrink as they please. Their human-shaped form is just as comfortable as their "base" form.
  • Can change their composition at will. They can turn into articles of clothing, shapeshift into buildings, plants, other animals, other structures, etc.

Abilities

Coalescence

Legion embodies their concept of many within their own psyche as a collective. Legion portrays itself as a hivemind (more accurately, a gestalt consciousness). There is no "true" singular entity in their mind, but those wills, voices and thoughts drift among the sea of countless fragments to unify as one and many at the same time. Legion can voluntarily mind-link individuals to their collective. Those who interface with the Legion at any capacity becomes an extension of them, and have access to the vast potential of Legion's capabilities. All that is mind-linked are still considered individuals and can communicate telepathically, share thoughts and intelligence. Those who drift too far in the collective may naturally be assimilated.

Assimilation

Legion can absorb and assimilate individuals with little to no effort: their presence crush, break and overwhelm mortal minds, stripping away their individuality as their souls and body become one with the Legion itself. This is fully effective on mortals, and the process is permanent. Other Edeia, Ideated individuals (those who possess an Idea) and metaphysical beings are resistant to the will (their experiences may come off as fever dreams.) The more who join them, the stronger they become. To those they have harvested, they can become them perfectly in all aspects: personality, desires, memories, abilities, shapeshifting to appear as them, etc.

The Legion can also interface and assimilate objects, structures, abstract things (stories, traits, thoughts), technology, planets, worlds... and other complex systems. On rarer occasions with a bit more substantial effort, they can assimilate universes that cannot sustain its structural integrity. Its potential is unknown.

Multiplicity

Legion can split and multiply into various entities and components, similar to cloning. These are often varied in shape and size, and can process different sets of personalities while separate. There is no discovered limit to their ability. Legion can also clone and replicate other individuals (except other Edeia) and objects. Legion can also fuse with multiple entities at a time.

Concinnity

A remnant from Legion's past Idea. Legion can unify two or more individuals to work as both many and one, even if they were not compatible beforehand. They can create hiveminds and imbue them onto beings that possess individuality. They can also take away multiplicity in individuals and absorb them for themselves, or transfer them to other individuals.

Abstraction

Legion's Abstraction is a desolate world, made of its own being. The land is a curdling blood red floor that splashes with each step, with veins reaching upward among walls of broken black obsidian-like panels that have been scattered. The air is a dull dreary black with blue hues, like a cold evening sky shrouded by dark clouds. Legion can manipulate this plane at their will, as structures arise from the sea of blood from the wave of its hand. Everything in its Abstraction is made of the Legion itself, and "Legion" is simply a fragment of the greater whole when outside of their Abstraction.

Story

Legion was not always Legion. Casted into the fray of existence against their will, Legion was once a collection of humans, if not one of the earliest "communities" of humankind.

Ancient Ages - Humanity's Beginning

The original Idea holder who eventually becomes the catalyst of forming Legion, was estranged from their community for some long time - an individual that longed for social inclusion, to be part of the greater whole, but was mentally held back. Unknowingly, the human was bestowed with an Idea. A chance to be free, to discover his own path, most people would think. But no. He wanted the support of everyone he ever loved, for he wanted to be with his community more than anything.

It seemed innocent at first. He molded a little world around their community, a place where they were safe. The warmth he felt when he was inches away from another human's soul. He gave an eerie feeling with his presence alone. The older generation became skeptical as this young man changed demeanors overnight. They persuaded him to leave.

He feared to be discarded. It dived into anger, then mania.

The surge of developing his Idea began to unfortunately, warp his mind. He became obsessed with a new goal that could be possible — to bring forth a rapture, a new existence with his kin. A new life. A better life where he and the others surpass the weakness of the human flesh. An existence where he would always feel included. And so, his magic twisted into horrific proportions, to latch onto the minds of the lost and become one with him. A crude sense of unity, one would impose. When he had them all, he felt their warmth in his mind once again. It was the right moment as he took his small community in. They became. And so, they became the culmination. They tentatively dubbed themselves "Unas," the Edeia of Unity. (or well, the language equivalent of unison back then.)

Unas was an… odd Edeia, but a rather kind and overly passionate entity who cared for nothing but the "unification" of all beings in the world. Their presence carried a weight, as if they were a walking army. As kind as they seem, they were reserved. Perhaps a sense of incompletion. They would stare and drift, almost as if they were lost in thought. More than often, someone was needed to "snap Unas out of it." They became drawn to stories of variations with the concept of identity. It seemed as if Unas knew something was off. They could hear a voice, perhaps two, maybe several, when they were alone. Almost as if, their many parts were talking to them.

Before the Age of Secrecy, a convergence had taken place, with the decision to hide themselves for a long period of time from the annals of humanity. For some reason, Unas thought it was redundant, why separate something that was always there? If they were going to reunite, then didn't it seem unnecessary? The Edeia of Unity contested against the notion with no avail, and the Orderly announced a period of solitude from the mundane.

Age of Secrecy - A Shift

At first, Unas seemed to take it well. Until they didn't. Without the distraction of human interaction, time moves much more slowly to them. Slower. Not even their closest friend, Eternity, could satisfy their needs with their company. They peered from their Abstraction and saw the deterioration of humanity. Civil war was rampant. Imprisonment was futile, and mankind was slain over the pettiest reasons. It began to drive Unas to a pit deep within their mind. They were needed out there. But reappearing in society would “threaten” the concept of magical secrecy, and Order would most likely have their head for doing so. “But… they don’t have to know… right?”

The Edeia of Unity would quietly sneak out of their Abstraction, often in some form of disguise as they attempted to "resolve" these issues. Their ties to multiplicity only grew as they used their abilities to become a "method of support," they claimed. Their acts of “unification” resulted in a case of mass hysteria as individuals who became a part of them began to lose their individuality. Seen as a magical taboo, humans associated with Unas' "legion" were slain on sight. The results were observed afar, as Unas was caught by Eternity.

Unas begged their friend to spare them, some form of mercy, or at least, to not be ratted out to the Orderly. Eternity, an Edeia who held no ties to human morality but did care about their friend, obliged. Instead, they decided to take matters into their own hands and imprisoned Unas within their Abstraction. The strength of Eternity's sigils was even too great for someone like Unas, as they realized their mistake when they realized they could not leave to another dimension. They were trapped.

"𝙳𝚘 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚜 𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎."

Eternity, not truly thinking, left Unas there until Secrecy was over.

No matter how much Unas tried to call for someone, no one could hear them. For the next few decades, they were abandoned. Sometime after being imprisoned, the individuals that once Actualized with them as Unas began to surface within their soul. Finding comfort in their multiple parts being their company, they indulge in them as a coping mechanism. Unas' Idea began to shift, as they no longer saw themselves as a singular being, but a collection of individuals working a single image. It began to feel "right." They were many. They were what they call, a legion.

And so, Unas took a more fitting identity as the Legion, the Edeia of Legion. And so, they began to multiply, feed into its intrusive thoughts as they acclaim to a world of many. They brewed, festering for centuries inside their Abstraction. After all, they had themselves to keep them company. They waited.

Sometime in the late 1900s, Eternity returned from stasis to check on their "friend," discovering that Unas was no more. While surprised by the Idea change, they felt that Legion would eventually need to warm up to the changes in the outside modern world. Legion tentatively agreed, as Eternity allowed certain Edeia to meet with Legion once more. On some occasions, Eternity let Legion leave their Abstraction while supervised to disguise themselves and experience the more modern world until the Age of Reunion began. They planted seeds to exert their influence in secret on these outings, to prepare itself at the right moment.

Age of Reunion - The Growth Of Legion

As so, the Age of Reunion occurred in the mid 2010s, as Legion was now free. Their influence began to spread like wildfire, they began to take. Their collective only began to grow in sheer size, as they assimilated the lost and the forgotten by force. They wanted to make sure they had the power to fight back if necessary, to be locked away no more. Their will began to carry weight, as the more they grew, the easier it was to take… until it became effortless. They wanted more than just more souls within their collective, they wanted to become all there is. The desires from the collective surfaced, as Legion would begin to indulge in them.

Within the mid 2050s, Legion tentatively created Legion Inc: a corporation where they would offer their unrivaled manpower to be labored to other people and companies. After all, they could do anything. By the late century, almost everyone in Ideation knew Legion. Their presence led to meeting interesting individuals that they would begin to make for the first time in a long time, friends.

After some discussion with close friends, they began to seek therapy for trauma in terms of their abandonment in the past. As of the present, Legion is working towards closure and completeness within themselves. They realized that they are capable of being good once more, as they are beginning to appreciate the presence of individuals without attempting to assimilate and keep them forever. Even then, the united will often fights against their urges, an innate desire they attempt to restrain.

But will it last...?

OmephagosFriendOwned by: Auspice
Legion was the first to approach Omephagos, having heard about it - they send a little part of them to try persuading Ome to join Legion, which greatly amused Ome. "Me? Join you? How amusing.... how very amusing! Why don't you join me instead?" Still, after some conversation, Omephagos agrees to join Legion for some span of time out of curiosity and to amuse themself... as long as Legion lets it eat them and stay put for the equivalent time. Legion agreed, that it was only fair.

And so began their odd friendship. While Ome is with Legion, it often incites voracity, encouraging the collective to indulge in what they feel is the greatest pleasure: consumption. After the first time this led to unfortunate circumstances in the world of Ideation, they have taken to only do this while in other dimensions... and there Legion would go, assimilating all those of that world. While Ome has consumed Legion, it would let them see the way it experiences the world, experiences devouring - as well as take Legion's form to explore, to assimilate, to consume.

Besides that, they do at times spend time in each other's company in simpler ways. Ome was quite curious about Legion, and all too happy to chat. (In time, perhaps they share things they do not often share with others.) Additionally, Omephagos enjoys taking Legion to various restaurants for the mere pleasure of dining - and so they would send all the other patrons as well as the servers into intense anxiety as they rid the restaurant of all in the kitchens.

Eternity???"We have nothing good to say."
Legion knew Eternity when they first actualized as Unas. They got through tough times with Eternity by their side and had romantic feelings for them, but was betrayed in the Age of Secrecy. They can never forgive for what they have done.
