He looks up to him, ears attentive as he listens to the soft, fragile voice mumble on about various things. At first he isn't sure what Nikolai means, up until he notices the book held in his hands, awaiting to be taken. Blue eyes gloss over the cover, sketching over the image of the ocean. It's a pretty ocean, much unlike the shores of the Gulf coast, where the water was a deep brown rather than peaceful blue. The whiskers sprouting from his eyebrows twitch and he beams, clapping his fingertips together then tenting them. "Tamako enjoys 'reading' books sometimes, but he cannot read well if it is in 'English'!" Whilst he knew how to speak the language, reading it was an entirely different subject. Where were and we're? He could hardly tell the difference. "Ehh, does Nikolai want to come to Tamako's 'house'!? Tamako does not like to read.. if it is not in 'bed'! It is not easy and uncomfortable." The last time he tried to read a book outside of his bed, he'd not only blinded himself by opened white pages out in the sunlight, but he'd gotten distracted far too often to retain what the story was about.
"Mhm! Mhm! We can 'get' the boba there too!! Uwahhh!! It can be 'delivered'! Maybe.. with snacks..!" His lips purse in thought and he looks up at the sky past Nikolai's head. "It is strawberry season so.. there are many candies with the flavor! Tamako will have those delivered too!"

"Just one more thing..." A soft voice from the kitsune woman as her delicate hands fidgeted with whatever pink fabric had caught her attention. With smooth hands, Four give a finishing touch of tying a bow before the small woman takes a few steps back, soft smile on her face. Four had adjusted a frilly pink dress onto Tamako, assisting with some fitting for the rabbit. She clasped her hands together, offering that same kind smile as she speaks, "It suits you well, pink is such a lovely color." It was dress up time.
"OMG! You are, like, SOOOO super cute! You should go fishing with me and my boyfriend!!! He's really good at it, he can give you tips and stuff. And then we can go for a SWI~M afterwards! It'll be so fun!!"

"Shells… Shells would be nice," he'd said in a nervous mumble.
But he still hadn't thought so far as to the current moment, where they now both crouched upon the sandy shore while Enfys meekly followed Tamako's motions, sifting lightly through the seemingly countless shells spread along the sand. His unexpected newfound companion for the day was somehow not as fearful to be around as most people, soft and soothing, yet talkative more so than him just enough that hadn't found himself worrying all too guiltily over any awkward silences that would be likely to fall quickly over otherwise. Even if his nerves still left him wanting to shrivel away here and there.
Enfys could barely wrap his head around any of it. He'd never seen someone so pretty—certainly not in person, although no one quite like him even then—nor as curious in many ways (were those... whiskers, too?), and he half wondered whether it was all just an abstract, but oddly real-feeling dream. Everything about Tamako was surreal, and the fact that here he was hanging around with someone so bright and surreal was even more surreal, and he realised he was really overusing that word. Still, he didn't understand the roundabout sense of kinship that lingered inside him, even when they could barely contrast more. Maybe it was just a matter of confusion, through the fact that they'd been similarly visiting the ocean, and from his own persistent craving towards the unreal.
Various thoughts passed through his head. 'Do you like the ocean too?' A dumb question—this stranger might as well have seemed more oceanic than the ocean itself, and why else would he be here, helping to scavenge for shells right now with the most unsociable, uninteresting person in the world? 'Do you like shells? You seem to know your way around this place really well.' Pointless as well, and too embarrassing to manage with his nonexistent guts, anyway. Quibbling on within his mind, Enfys' fingers carefully dusted off a small one, colored a dull dark gray and brown, and slightly chipped at one of the edges, yet twisted and spiraled in a way that he still found somewhat elegant. As were all shells, though.
He looked up when Tamako held up one particularly pretty one, and returned to the sand just in time for his fingers to brush against another as it washed gently against the shore. A slightly larger one than most others he'd seen so far, with smooth edges, a rounded but graceful shape, and pale colors tinted a soft pink. After taking a moment to admire it, gleaming somehow even under the dreary, overcast sky, Enfys held it out towards Tamako. "You can have this one." It's like you.
