Mieko is a very reserved and stern. She feels the need to have everything in her life be presentable and "normal" at all times, and cleans very often. Mieko cares about those close to her, but she often lets her obsession with a perfect life get in the way of those feelings. She is very quiet, but she angers easily and often ruins her own image with these issues. She does not speak English, but she is trying to learn some from her husband.

Mieko grew up around Osaka, but moved to Seoul for a few years to attend a beauty college in her late teens. When she moved back to Japan, she met Shumei, who was visiting Japan for the first time. The next time he visited, he asked her out on a date, and they got married about a year later. Mieko quit her job after learning that she was pregnant to spend more time with her child. Her first child was born, and a few years later they decided to have a second. The first one was a bit of an... accident. Mieko was happy with her family for years, until her oldest shook up her life. He came out as transgender, which completely blindsided her. Mieko, not being able to understand her son's feelings in the moment, blew up at him. The next thing she knew, her husband had sent him away, to get him away from her and let him live his life. She was outraged that he'd gone behind her back, and decided to deny that she even had two children. As the years went on though, the guilt of what she'd done to her son ate away at her and she started spoiling her youngest child to attempt to atone. She keeps asking her husband where her son is, but he won't tell her until they're both ready to come back and talk it out.
