Alum "J" Maddux is a famous sports star from the baseball team The Wonderland Phantoms. He's the best batter the team has ever had, with unparalleled determination and strength, he's a teammate they can't afford to lose. Before his rise to stardom though, he lived a shitty life in Lower Phoenix beside his "brother" Toluene (or just Tol for short). After being kicked out of his house and forced to fend for himself, he had to rely on Tol a lot. The two worked very different jobs trying to earn all the money they could to get a little place together to finally relax, however, after unfortunate events, Tol was put in prison and Alum lost his job. In order to pay off Tol's bail, he had to use the money they had been collecting over the years. They we're stuck at square one with no money, and very little hope. After a quick decision to play a bit of baseball to get their mind off things, they were hit with a stroke of luck and signed a contract to become the newest team members for The Wonderland Phantoms.
The two quickly rose into fame after Alum proved to be a crazy good batter and Tol proved to be one of Wonderland's best pitchers, they became an iconic duo who were praised by everyone for their rags to riches story. Despite the fame and admiration that grew from most, the entirety of their team, and Upper Phoenix, feels nothing but distaste for the duo. The general population feels as if the two don't deserve their fame, and that they're still Lower Phoenix trash who don't belong or deserve to live in U.P. They're often singled out, and ridiculed for the smallest mistakes and decisions they make. Because of this, Alum always winds up overexerting himself, pushing his body to it's physical and mental limits in order to prove himself to others. A sport that was once a fun pastime activity for him and his brother became nothing but a burden for a short while. After Tol voiced his concerns for Alum's health, he cut it out, and began to cheat his way through games by using his magic. He feels as if he deserves a break, and that it's not really cheating considering how much he tortured himself in the beginning. Because of him and Tol's cheating habits, people try to call them out in an attempt to ruin their reputation. This, is only met with extreme, horrific blackmail, from both Tol and Alum. They refuse to let anyone even TRY TO ruin their career, they refuse to live in Lower Phoenix once again.
Trivia

What is there to say? Tol is his brother, and he'll never leave his side. The two need each other to balance out seemingly everything in their lives, from morals, to habits, to god knows what else. Alum would never even CONSIDER betraying Tol and trusts him with his life. He just wants the best for them both and feels as if they both put in effort to get to where they are.
Loathes Aldrich more than anything. Aldrich treats him and Tol as if they are special collectable figures he can show off to all his friends. Aldrich likes the concept of Alum and Tol, but doesn't actually like them as people. They're often forced to go to Aldrich's parties so he can have bragging rights, they both hate it.
He's actually terrified of her and the fact that they're both in Upper Phoenix makes him even more uncomfortable. He knows the things shes done to others, and knows how rotten of a person she is. He fears that his fame will lead them to interacting, but the fact that he's just some unimportant sports guy usually puts his worries to rest. He hopes they will never have to meet her.
