Devil Trigger

Racial

Mastery

Late into their story, Roman unlocks their Devil Trigger. While using it orange glowing veins spread across their face. While in Devil Trigger, Roman gains an increase in strength, speed, endurance, and regenerates health. For the duration of their Devil Trigger, the sky in Limbo turns white and Roman's roar echoes in the air. Roman's Devil Trigger ability allows them to ignore gravity and traverse walls and ceiling just as easy as the floor.

Aquipondium

Devil Arm

Mastery

A Dual Element Labyrs left as a momento by their father; Sparda. Summoned from a matching tattoo/birthmark between their shoulder blades, Aquipondium is their will exherted onto the world. Balance. Equality. Same.

Nephilim Heritage

Racial

Mastery

Thanks to Roman's dual Demon Father and Angel Mother, they're a Nephilim. They have increased strength, speed, agility, stamina, and durability. Their natural healing is much faster than that of a human's, and they can manipulate their own Demonic and Angel energy. Boosting their demonic energy allows them to hit heavier at the cost of speed, while boosting their angel energy does the opposite. Boosting either costs them the range of their unboosted attacks.

STORY.

A secret third son of Mundus’ Blood Brother, Sparda. A cowardly entity completely with no respect for authority anymore. Manipulated by authority, manipulated by friends, manipulated by family, Roman has been second in command for far too long. Once a part of the police force, then a part of the rebellion fighting an oppressive tyrant, then abandoned by their once close friend, and their brother no less.

Childhood

Born a couple years after the twins, DmC Roman was born to an Angel, and similarly to Eva, she was murdered during the hunt for everyone Sparda had interacted with. Roman was left in the care of one of many corrupt orphanages in Limbo City. AFAB and swaddled in a white shawl, Roman grew up under the name “Bianca”. They were never “like other girls”. Aside from the fact that they hated traditionally girly things, dresses, make up, dolls (because if this is Baby’s first Capitalism Review, it’s Baby’s first Gender Roles Review), they were also significantly stronger and faster than the other kids, all of them.

Just the Beginning

Eventually, they become the youngest member of the Limbo City police force. By then, they were going by their new name: Roman. After around a year of being part of the police force, Roman and a team of “fellow” officers are inches away from having “The Mysterious Head of The Order” within their grasp. Everyone bar Roman is picked off by one, leaving Roman and Vergil to duke it out one on one, and Roman gets his ass handed to him. Awakening his hybrid soul, Roman not only heals from his wounds but is gifted “[I’ll think of a name later]”, a dual element Labrys. Now in their phase two, the fight begins again. Unfortunately, Roman is still no match for Vergil, and the fight ends with them slashing past each other, Roman cutting Vergil’s mask in two, but Vergil creating a massive gash in Roman’s side. Vergil sees the anger in Roman, along with their willingness to endure. He sees the potential for someone else to use in his grand scheme and performs an “open your eyes speech” revealing to Roman who they actually work for and offers them a place with him.

After Vergil placebo helps Roman to focus their Nephilim energy into healing the wound, they accept and become somewhat of a bodyguard/assistant. Something that Vergil can use to threaten people with, but also someone who can get him tea, or be left in charge of the cleanup without worry that Roman’ll try to usurp him.

Oh how the Cookie Crumbles

That is, until Dante walks into the picture. Vergil’s seen the tattoo on Roman’s back, it’s a wonder they never noticed it themself. It’s almost identical to Dante’s and his own (I'm assuming Vergil has one as well, unless it's closer to a brand then a birthmark) except for a Labrys instead of a sword. Vergil had already caught onto how similar Roman looked to both of them, and had already told them that they were probably related; Vergil already acted as an older brother to Roman, he couldn't let Roman know that there was more to their family than just him. He refrains from calling Dante his brother in front of Roman and refuses anyone else to discuss Dante with Roman in the room.

A Coward Through and Through

It’s not until Kat, Roman, and Dante are sent out on a mission and Dante mentions his father, Sparda. Vergil had told Roman that their father was The Great Lieutenant Sparda, but hadn't mentioned that Sparda was his father as well. After the mission is complete, Roman goes to confront Vergil.

Vergil, after fully realising that Roman was related to them, willingly kept them apart because he planned to use Roman as his heir. Roman was loyal. Roman would act as his hidden right hand and if anything were to go pear shaped, Roman would act in Vergil’s place until he returned. Now with Dante around so much, while he is useful, he runs the risk of ruining months of planning by giving Roman someone else to care about them, not that Dante actually cares about anyone but himself.

Vergil gives a very vague answer, basically telling Roman that Dante is probably related to them, but it doesn't matter all that much. They've met Dante, and do they really want to be related to him? Roman is hesitant to accept this answer, but agrees that Dante isn’t the most caring person, at least not from what they’ve seen, which thanks to Vergil hasn’t been much. It isn’t until later when Vergil reveals his plan to Roman that Roman turns away from him. Roman suddenly saw that Vergil didn’t just want to dethrone Mundus, but wanted to replace him. Thus, they leave. And they do not warn anyone.

Where are they now?

After Dante and Vergil’s final confrontation, Roman gets found by Kat, who they tell about what Vergil said. Kat’s rightly angry that Roman never warned anyone, but she wants to help Dante and Roman try and form, hopefully a healthier brotherly relationship. And thus, the three team up to try and make something of themselves in this new world.
