Sage is a boyish tom, curious and bright, still in his kittypet mindset of being naive and assuming that nothing can hurt him. Despite almost dying as a result of his collar being caught on a bush, he remains mostly unaffected. He has a big, intense crush on Palepaw (Riverclan) after she saved his life, and will be padding after her for who knows how long.
He is good-natured yet oblivious, but is loyal and protective over those around him and will do anything to protect them from harm. He is a proud tom, who basks in praise and can seem a little big-headed as a result.

Sage was born a kittypet, and raised by a young twoleg couple. He was there with them from the time he was two moons old. He grew very attached to them, and made friends with other kittypets in the neighbourhood.
However, his twolegs were taken from their home by angry twolegs, and they had to leave without Sage. They were evicted. Since then, Sage has lived in the twolegplace, taking food from other twolegs and sheltering in their gardens. New twolegs have moved into the home he lived in, and they have a dog.
When exploring to try and find his twolegs, he fell from a tree as he chased a bird, and was caught on a high branch by his collar. A Riverclan apprentice, Palepaw, saved him, and has taken him back to her clan to ask Snowstar if he can join.
