Cherry Hawthorn

Who is Cherry?:

An affectionate, humble, and hard-working space lago lady! 

With a farmer background, Cherry grew to know the charm of doing so much with so little, and saw how honest work pays off. 

The Beginnings:

Cherry grew in a large family of 9 people in her house, being the oldest sibling of 7. While her 'Pa' was hoping for a boy to be the firstborn, he still adored her and took her to work in the fields with him, where she learned the importance of helping out the community with what they had and to appreciate what she has. She was a responsible sibling, helping her 'Ma' raise her brothers and sisters while aiding her Pa in the farm, showing she had a lot of energy to balance all that daily work on her small shoulders.

Being surrounded with so much love, she grew wondering how to give some of it back…

Finding her way:

When the day arrived, and she became 18, Cherry made the choice to become a nurse, wanting to help out as many people as she could so that her community would have an easier access to healthcare. She studied hard, and even excelled at her classes… but when she began attending the hospitals, everything changed. The ambiance at hospitals was hostile and, just, too cold for her to handle it: doctors that couldn't show sympathy for their patients, nurses mistreating her classmates, guards kicking out people that couldn't afford their treatments… Cherry couldn't stomach such an awful sight, so with a heavy heart, she quit her studies and returned home.

Her family supported her, knowing that what she saw wasn't easy to stomach. And while she was disappointed in herself, Cherry still had some knowledge to treat certain wounds, so she could still something good for her community, yet she never felt… accomplished.

But then, one day, a new door opened up for her: she was asked to join a project to feed people living in the streets. This was something right up her ally, something that was warm, comforting… and delicious! With her increasing cooking skills and southern charm, Cherry became the face of the project in no time! They would go from town to town, to bustling cities, even other farmlands with crates full of fresh meals to feed those they encountered!

And she finally felt she was on the right path.

The Alliance:

A couple of years later, she met the Alliance. Cherry had always admired the guards protecting the royal family and their home planet, so she didn't hesitate to offer them a quick supper when they passed by! The team was thankful, and they were astonished by the quality of Cherry's cooking, so they stayed for a while to chat with her. After a while, Viridian offered her something that would change her life: They needed help in the royal kitchen, and he believed Cherry was the perfect candidate for that position! She was ecstatic and, after talking it out with her group, she agreed! 

Cherry now works cooking for the royal squadron, making sure her boys are always well-fed and happy, and the money she earns is sent to her charity team to ensure that no one misses a proper meal!

Relationships:

• Her family:

There is a belief in her household, and that is: Family sticks together! Cherry has a wonderful relationship with her relatives, namely the ones she currently lives with, which are her parents and some of her younger siblings that have yet to move out. Cherry had decided to stay at her parents' place until she met the person she would want to spend the rest of her days with, but there is no rushing from their part- they know Cherry is committed to her work, after all, and they are very proud of her! Every year, there is a LARGE family gathering at her parents' place, seeing they own the largest farm, and it easily fits her 60-something relatives and then some! For outsiders, this would be the reunion of their nightmares, but for Cherry? That's the best time of the year!

• Brick:

The man she wants to live the rest of her life with. Their encounter was unusual, but that's what makes it so special- after being stood up by some guy she was going to have a picnic with, Cherry was kidnapped by Brick. His original plan was to piss off the Alliance, but when he noticed that Cherry didn't seem to care much about her current situation, he couldn't help but ask what was wrong with her. After a brief explanation of what happened prior to her kidnapping, he softened up on her. They began to talk, and even took a picture together, sending it to the guy that stood her up after Cherry received a mocking text from them. She shared the food she made for the picnic with Brick as thanks, and overall enjoyed each other's company before the Alliance came to 'rescue' her. After that, they kept meeting up randomly in and out of battles, until they decided they wanted to spend more time together- usually on the weekends where Cherry would stay over at his place (and steal borrow his clothes). In the future, they live together in their own farm and have 9 children.

• Viridian:

Cherry holds a lot of respect towards Viridian despite being older than him. She sees how much he has to shoulder, being captain and all, so she makes sure to make things a little easier for his squadron with small gestures, such as memorizing and serving their favorite foods often, having plenty of desserts and sweet items stocked, even delivering snacks and water bottles after their trainings! She's always present if he needs support, may it be by giving him some advice or aiding them in battle, namely when Brick's giving them a hard time. 

• Hickory:

Her favorite cooking assistant! Whenever he's available, Cherry asks him to help her out in the kitchen, either by preparing ingredients or serving the food on trays. Hickory also gives her insight on what the other members of the Alliance enjoy eating, so that she can prepare their favorite dishes. When Rouge was born, Cherry gifted him a LOT of baby clothing, most of them made by herself!

• Cobalt:

Her boy! Cherry appreciates guys with hefty appetites, and nothing makes her happier than seeing Cobalt enjoy the food she makes for him. She won't mention it, but she can tell he wasn't raised with much… love, and therefore she tries to give him some- either by serving him his favorite dish when he's had a tough day, a pinch on the cheek to tease him, or ruffling his hair to congratulate him about a success he's had! With that said, she's still a little strict and keeps him from teasing his teammates too much by threatening him with a wooden spoon.

• Cider:

She ADORES him. Cherry thinks he's adorable and calls him 'Sugar Cube', as he's as sweet as one! She also always slips him a few extra bites of food to make sure he's eating properly- can't get stronger without eating plenty! And although she may baby him sometimes, Cherry still treats him with respect, as she admires how smart and brave he is… but, be wary, she's ready to commit violence if anyone hurts him.

• Otto and Spoopie:

Cherry grew surprisingly close to Otto in a short period of time, throwing the other Alliance's members for a loop. Turns out, Trinket had approached her when Otto joined the team, sharing his concerns about his grandson's eating habits. Happy to offer her aid, Cherry made sure that Otto didn't miss his meals by bringing them to the workshop, where she began to learn about his personality and why he acted the way he did. She nicknamed him 'Cinnabun', a subtle way to call out how sweet he is underneath his layers. When he started talking to her, Otto offered to update her kitchen gadgets as a way of thanking her for going out of her way to ensure his well-being, which she accepted. However, after Cherry found where Brick lived, she decided to ask Otto for his help in restoring her boyfriend's place instead.

She also likes Spoopie! Cherry is used to seeing big spiders back at her parents' house, yet she's never thought they could be so smart! Absolutely enamored with the little guy, especially after seeing him chasing away rats and other nasty critters away from her work area!

Random Trivia:

• Cherry has the strength to suplex a full-grown bull. She was banned from entering bull riding competitions for this reason.
• She's always carrying cooking utensils in her purses, even some that are comically too large to fit in them.
• Her meat tenderizer hammer is called "Big Bertha" and the moment she brings it out, you run.
• Cherry usually whacks people with a wooden spoon, usually Cobalt when he's being mean to either Hickory or Cider… or both.
• She aesthetically likes cherries, but they're not her favorite fruits.
• Her family runs a berries' farm, and all of her siblings are called after the berries they grow on their land.
• She rarely wears make-up. 
• She almost always wears her hair in a bun. 
• She loves Brick unconditionally, and even when he drives her mad sometimes, she accepts him the way he is. For this reason, she doesn't pressure him with the idea of settling down together or getting married, even if it seems odd in the eyes of her family.
• When they meet in the weekends, Cherry takes one of Brick's shirts with her and wears it to bed every night until she gets to see him again, then swaps the shirt for a fresh one. She doesn't know it, but Brick wears the used shirts when she leaves, as her scent brings him comfort. 
• She knows a lot about… everyone. The boys are a little frightened by the amount of information she has on them, sometimes even questioning whether she's a spy in disguise- turns out she isn't, she just has that info because she overhears a LOT of gossip going around the cafeteria.
