Roy carries himself with pride and self-assuredness, confident in his opinions and abilities. Optics matter a lot to him; He is meticulous in presenting as someone capable, respectable, and beautiful. His high standards for himself and others make him hate the uncertainty of relying on other people. He's reserved, dismissive, and difficult to get along with. He doesn't go looking for trouble, but he's not the most considerate of others' feelings and can be irritable and rude. He makes it clear when he’s annoyed, and though he tries to remain level-headed, it’s easy for stress to make him snappy.

He’s always occupied with artistic hobbies or projects- the only things that betray his excitable and passionate side- and can't resist getting involved in new ones. He enjoys being able to learn and improve, or teach and offer advice. He's highly critical and fussy to the point of perfectionism, but only as a result of his extreme diligence and keen eye for detail. He is also careful and thinks before acting; He won't risk failure or physical harm. He’s intelligent but prone to overthinking.

Status matters to him as much as appearance does. He's been taught to respect his elders and to fear those with authority, while he’s less compelled to treat people with respect if they look sloppy or act childish. Once he dislikes or fears someone, it's hard to change his mind. However, despite the impression that he doesn’t care, emotional outbursts can easily intimidate or guilt him into backing off if he’s gone too far. His bark is worse than his bite; He doesn't actually want to hurt anyone, let alone get hurt.

Roy keeps people at arm’s length, even those he’s on good terms with. Intimate relationships make life complicated for a number of reasons, so he feels the need to avoid intimacy out of a corrupted sense of self-preservation. Affection makes him feel selfish and guilty. He’s trying very hard to be colder than he is, so needless to say, he’s terribly lonely. He actually gets attached to others kind of quickly or at least feels responsible for them. He’s a caring person who gets genuinely invested in others’ well-being and quality of life. The closer he gets to someone, the more he becomes an overprotective mother hen.

Roy isn't anywhere near as cool or collected as he acts. As much as he tries to repress it, he's a very timid and emotional young man, prone to anxiety and melancholy. His family's and his own expectations weigh heavily on his shoulders; He's always stressed out and feels under pressure to succeed. When something matters to him, he crumbles under the looming possibility of failure and gets lost in catastrophizing. His diehard pessimism can be dramatic and even comically morbid, but it hints at his genuine terror in the face of uncertainty and lack of control.

Roy can manipulate fiery will-o’-wisps which burn up emotions to grow stronger. He keeps his power active as often as possible for its emotional effects and usually has at least one kitsunebi hovering nearby. He can precisely control the flames' shape, size, temperature, and color for utility or for beautiful displays.

He can lay temporary curses on others. This power is fairly undeveloped, so he can't control the effects. It's triggered by strong negative emotions and can manifest as things like bad luck, strange illness, or looming feelings of dread.
