The fallen Maiden

Oda was an abounded child, which was taken in by an Onna-Bugeisha guild. Onna-Bugeishas are female samurai warriors. The girl had to share a small room with four other girls. The living conditions surely were not the best, but better than living on the streets and begging for food every day.

The 12-year-old girl didn't care about leaking roofs or getting the same food to eat every day. She was happy to have a place to stay. The day after her arrival, she started her training to become an Onna-Bugeisha. They were taught discipline and to obey orders. The girls had to learn how to catch fish, how to set a camp and camp fire. Their teacher would punish them if they disobey. If one girl in the group doesn't obey, then the whole group gets punished.
