Patina

Backstory ||

Patina was born into an average family in Kilaan city. A few siblings, loving parents, and good opportunities. As a child he was very active and rambunctious, getting into lots of trouble. However, as he grew, he started to become more reserved, lathargic, and didn't grow as much as his siblings. After a few doctors visits, it was discovered that he suffered from dwarfism. He never grew very tall and his legs remained short, resulting in slower and not very agile movement. With help, however, he was able to regain some of his energy and get what he needed to move around in the city.

With any hopes of playing professional sports dashed (although that was never really a goal for him), Patina managed to find joy in the arts. He spent much of his early adulthood studying anatomy and painting. He found the work exciting and easy on his body, and he was good at it too! With a focus on realism and moody peices, he was able to find a niche of people willing to buy his paintings and commission him. Along with the support from his peers and family, he was quickly making a name for himself in certain circles.

Within time, he began to branch out into other areas of work. He began to show an interest in sculptural work, although it did put a bit more strain on his joints. Keeping his moody and realistic work, he began to create surealism sculptures that combined animals and objects to create things that seemed to be strange and fantastic taxidermy at forst, before they were releaved to be clay or ceramic with a touch. Unfortunately, these peices weren't as popular as his paintings. He began to lose money and clients, and found that he may have to choose between his new style and his old one.

Falling on hard times and harder decisions, Patina rented out his extra room to a dragon named Doublat. He annoyed him at first, but they eventually settled into a dynamic that worked for them. His origami skills facinated Patina, and Patina's depiction of Doublat's beloved forest creatures facinated him. They can often be found relaxing in their living room together, practicing each of their respective art forms.
