Bitten at the same time as he was, but as  he went more and more off the deep end she felt betrayed and left behind  so she left him

She learned to cope with her vampirism and saw it  as a freedom from mortality-- decided to study witchcraft and  discovered how to create artificial vampires as a way of spreading that  freedom from death

Eventually either founded or was involved in the founding of the vampire cult
