Backstory: Ms. Pender-Lyn had always wanted to be a dollmaker. She loved crafting beautiful peices of art with her own hands, things that could be enjoyed by people from all walks of life. Pieces that could be played with and loved, as well as displayed. She grew up in a fairly well-off home and learned her craft from a kind and talented man. When he passed away, Pender swore to open her own shop with her own hard-earned money. She came to work as a maid for a kind and wealthy man. The man slowly fell in love with her and proposed. She said yes and their started a happy life together with their two children. 

Things get fuzzy in Pender-Lyns memory here, but as far as she remembers, her beautiful home was attacked and her husband and children killed (or taken away? Kidnapped?) and she was forced to run. Unable to piece together what happened, shes settled down as a widow with her maiden name.
