Iliana was raised in a close-knit community in a town, Neigeux, that was well-known as being a safe haven for travelling adventurers, dotted neatly just at the snowy base of the stretches of mountains in the coldest regions of Astor. Born on the night of a full moon and abandoned by her adventuring birth parents (both humans who had been cursed with an infernal child after a quest gone awry), she was taken in by a doting pair of Dwarven fathers who loved her dearly from the moment they met her.

Her father, Murdock Wick, was an esteemed fighter who had settled down in the town to open a supplies store for other adventurers and Iliana grew up both in the town and the shop listening to the tales of the adventurers who passes through, aging her with a fascination with travel and adventuring, alike her father and the people that she met throughout her life. Her other father, Ori Wick, was a cleric of the church of Lathander and taught her from an early age the teachings of his god, the magic of the world, and the circle of life and death. Ori would often take his daughter on his pilgrimages starting from almost the moment that she could speak, trekking far across the lands to aid people in the name of his god with a toddler then a child then a teenager walking alongside him.

Though Iliana grew up in a religious household, it was not until she was late into her teens that her goddess would come to her, while on one of these pilgrimages with her father. Both of her fathers and herself had been invited to the funeral of a fellow follower of Lathander, of which was to occur at dusk as according to tradition of the temple. After the proceedings of the funeral and the following wake, the family trekked back to their home in the dark, the moon reaching its peak in the sky. Just as they returned home, the family watched as an owl dropped from its perch on their doorway and moved to soar directly above Iliana’s shoulder, dropping a feather so perfectly bathed in moonlight directly at the girl’s feet.

The three were shook quite greatly by the incident, Iliana taking the feather inside with her as it was clearly important, but shook even greater when Iliana informed her parents the next morning that she had met with the goddess Selûne in her dreams that night: the goddess had chosen the girl as one of her clerics, seeing the light reflected in her as one that she deemed worthy of her gifts and calling Iliana to her purpose as a cleric of the moon goddess.

So, with the love and care that her fathers had shown her since the day she arrived on their doorstep, they helped her to pack her travelling bag and set her up to safely journey spreading the gifts of her goddess, travelling just as she had always dreamed of doing since she could begin speaking with the adventurers that came and went from the small town of Neigeux and truly act as the Moon that had grown up reflecting the love of her fathers, the Sun.

Iliana rarely stayed in one town for long, quickly finding a love of travel and navigation in her early years working with her goddess and moving from town to town from one side of Astor to the other, but always returning to visit with her fathers and regale her travels when she was able.

There remains to be only one time in Iliana’s travels that she remained in the company of another for an extended period of time: when she met the love of her life, and her future wife Amira, in a small nomadic mountain town not too very far from Neigeux. Iliana was floored by the other the moment she saw her and when the time came that Selûne called her to another town, the cleric could not bring herself to leave without the other. She asked Amira to accompany her when her goddess finally grew ill-tempered with her long stay and, thankfully, the nomad agreed. The two travelled together for quite some time, before being married at the top of the very mountain that they had met on, the town and people having long moved on but the sentimentality of the place having remained throughout the years.

Currently, Iliana and Amira travel the country together, returning to Neigeux together often to visit the Wick fathers and share their tales of their own adventures together.
