Short for Kiika. Which is, of course, (spoilers) short for kittycat.

He considers himself named Steps With Wind. He was discovered by a five year old who spent months coaxing him out of the woods, only for his parents to cry out with shock and fear once he tried to bring his semi-feral, sapient, fox-sized "kittycat" into the house.
