HEVEL VOLDRI
champion fighter
ABOUT
"Hope is a discipline, something you choose."
Hevel Voldri, my beloved half-elf fighter! He's a part of a long running D&D campaign that I play with my best friends.
Hevel is kind of an asshole on the outside, but he's secretly really nice. Not that he'd ever admit it.
PERSONALITY
Hevel has always been and will probably be a bit of a hardass. He does care about the people closest to him, he just has... strange ways of showing it. Like repeatedly calling them short or punching them every now and again.
He's a skilled swordsman, having trained in the art of the blade nearly all his life. He's not above putting his own safety on the line in order to protect the people he likes. He tries his best to talk a big game, but actually, he's a total sweetheart.

BIOGRAPHY
HISTORY
Hevel grew up in a settlement known as Vonas Gate as the firstborn child of Thurzen and Luna Voldri as well as their only son, and is six years older than his younger sister Lily. Following in his father's footsteps, Hevel began training in swordsmanship at a very young age, around six years old- though he had been studying for about a year before his training officially began. Being nobility as well as the only son of the Voldris, many people across the entire continent of Elestria, most of all his father, expect little short of excellency from him. While his father's expectations of him often served to motivate him to be the best he could be, it equally served as an extra stressor on top of the rigorous training. Though Hevel never held it against his father- he knew that his father only wanted the best for him- it still led to Hevel developing a fear of letting his father down. Hevel cares for both of his parents equally, though he'd be lying if he said he didn't appreciate his mother's gentler approach to life from time to time. Anytime Hevel questioned his father's motivations or whether he truly saw how hard he was trying, Luna was always quick to reassure him that his father loved him more than anything, and only wanted to see him succeed.
Hevel focused primarily on training in swordsmanship and honing his strength and proficiency with blades, though he still trained in archery alongside the party's ranger, Thia. As his father often said, a real fighter must be well-rounded and ready to adapt to any situation, especially those in which their preferred weapons aren't available. Amongst the trainees of Vonas Gate, Hevel was often considered a model student- maybe not in the classroom, as he didn't care much for academics or more scholarly tasks, but he shined on the court in terms of combat and feats of strength. He rarely, if ever, skipped on training, even if he was already exhausted. Partly because he was so dedicated to learning the art of the blade, and partly because it was his father that taught the young swordsmen of Vonas Gate and he'd be hard-pressed to get away with actually skipping training.
RELATIONS
Although Hevel and Ranie have very little in common- their hobbies, their talents, their interests- they still get along well enough to be friends. Hevel does find her magical feats incredibly impressive, even if he'd never admit it in front of her. In his eyes, swordsmanship is simple and magic is complex beyond reason, and he admires her ability to understand it to the degree that she does. [Art by Brovotics!]
With both Hevel and Thia being trained in weapons and combat, they were bound to become friends, and grew close as children in the training classes that they shared. Even after they split off into their own specialties, they could still be seen hanging around Vonas Gate. Though Hevel is trained to use a bow, he would much sooner trust one in Thia's hands than his own. He's seen what she can do with a simple bow and arrow, and knows not to doubt her accuracy. Though among the children of Vonas Gate's founders, Hevel found himself spending more time with Felix than anybody else. With Hevel training in swordsmanship and Felix training in healing, both magical and medical, Hevel often served as great practice for Felix to learn about treating cuts, scrapes, and wounds as Hevel acquired them at a concerning frequency.
Even though Hevel trained alongside many other aspiring swordsmen in Vonas Gate, there were few that he spent as much time with as Harbranth. They squabble and fight quite a bit, but they tolerate each other to sit in the same room. By the time they both reached adolescence, they often went on several excursions out into the Whispering Woods for whatever reason, be it to hunt something, explore, or just hang out.
