world building

Pengu's mother came from a unground shelter that hosted quite a few rare breeds. The world has collapsed from disease, and now run by the two-leg's remaining AI creations- the robots that roam the streets. These specific robots that took her were part of a larger organization. The laboratory that hosts many creatures. It was one of two-legs last efforts to find the cure to the disease that wiped them and many other species of the planet. Pengu was born in a cell with a few other pups, yet he was the exclusive sole survivor of his litter. His mother had unfortunately passed from an accident while the robots were trying to interact in her space. One of the robots was kind enough to give the young Pengu, his eyes still sealed shut, another chance to live. He had placed the young pup with an adoptive mother, Galatea- she was a Beauceron dog that also recently had a litter of her own. She had a sole surviving pup as well, who was named Avery. Avery was born missing one of her lower paws. At a young age, Pengu was quick to tease and play rough. He didn't understand why she was born like that till their mother eventually inform him his words and actions were likely hurting her. As they aged, Pengu grew to learn to be more careful with his sibling, often providing support, so she wouldn't loose balance. Yet Avery did eventually get a prosthetic. The robots that tended to them eventually took them away from their mother, placing them into their own individual cells. The wolf in his bloodline had him howling for the rest of the night, wanting to be back with her. Pengu felt a rift of brokenness being separated from a follow packmates, which only increased his growing hatred to the robotic two-legs. The laboratory life was soon agitating him enough to a point he would lunge at his captors and lab coats. This often had him muzzled during any tests and experiments they wanted to preform on him. Avery, who happened to be in a cell next to him, didn't seem to mind Seamus, one of the robots as much. She grew fond of Seamus, yet Pengu couldn't understand this. He felt deeply that the robot was only there to use them and would betray their trust. No matter how much he tried reasoning to Avery about the robot, she wouldn't listen to him. Pengu verbally lashed out at Avery in anger, the cell bars preventing a confrontational fight. After the argument, he could only sulk or lash his angers out on his captors, wishing to be free. Yet, out of luck- a day came where they had the chance for escape. Avery's robot companion took the opportunity to release Avery, Pengu, and Deacon. Unfortunately, in the run, the laboratory discovers the attempt. Deacon, their adoptive father was shot in the process of being a distraction for the captors. With a freedom on the other side, Avery confronts Pengu about wanting to save Seamus. Pengu is stunned by how Avery wants to go back and tries desperately to convince her to leave the robot behind. Yet Avery went back, and Pengu couldn't follow his sister in fear of the life he had before. He bolted along, unsure what was to become of his sister or if she did manage to escape. He kept running and fighting till he managed to make it outside the walls and into the trees. It was a lush new sight for him. The air was fresh, and the ground was soft against his worn pads. Throughout the first night alone, he howled for sister, hoping she made it out, yet constantly stayed on the move to further distance himself from the lab. He felt alone, yet didn't want to go back.
