Ifis does in fact not know that his new hat is cursed. Acquiring it after a strange group of bipedal creatures fled their camp when his pride grew too close. The object seemed to call to him and the young lion did the only thing he could think of, and put it on. At first nothing happened, the hat was simply that, a hat. The feather never seemed to fray, and the fabric shed dirt as if it was water on a duck. His pridemates found it strange, but to be fair the young male had always been a bit odd so they never second guessed it. When things did start happening Ifis was non the wiser.

It started small, things that his pridemates only lingered on for a moment before shaking their heads free of such thoughts. Someone commenting on harsh whispering during night patrols. Shredded prey on the edges of camp with a familiar scent lingering next to the forms. Cubs claiming that he was too scary when asked to train with him. Just enough to seem disturbing, but nothing concrete to warrant actions against him. Yet to Ifis nothing was different if not for noticing those who once were close with him beginning to distance themselves. This kept up for a few weeks until it all came to a head on the night he was banished.

Ifis was set to guard the camp while the other went out on a hunt. The cubs left with his care just like always. Recently he seemed to realize the cubs no longer enjoyed his presence, and had come to the conclusion they were tired of the coddling. He could understand that as he too could remember those cubhood days. It did not mean he wasn't worried when he could not find said cubs after having turned away for but a moment. Fur on end he began to search slightly panicked as it would be just his luck to lose the cubs. Following their scent he tracked them to a small hallowed tree stump, "Oh there you are you buggers. Why did you-!" Jumping back in shock when a small clawed paw swiped at him followed by a fearful yell. "What's wrong?!" Confused as to why they were acting this way he continued to try and urge them out of their hiding place to no avail.

It wasn't until the distant sound of the prides approach did the the cubs bolt for freedom, hiding behind their confused a worried parents. "Oh thank goodness! They wouldn't leave that tree stump and I couldn't get them to tell me why. Little ones got some sharp claws though I'll tell you that." Rubbing the few small scratches he had acquired he didn't notice the stances of his pridemates change until hearing the warning growls. Jerking back he lowered himself, face filled with mixed fear and confusion, "Wha- Why are you looking at me like that?" Physically unable to see the shadows forming around him.
