Profile

Name: Monarch-3

Alternative Names: Monarchy of New Monarchy (Jokingly, by several New Monarchy Members), Monie (A 'Pet Name' sometimes used by Allie)

Age: Unknown

Species: EXO

Gender: Male

Height: Six foot Five

Weight: Four hundred thirty one pounds.

Class: Warlock, Sunsinger- (Dawnblade), Voidwalker.

Relationship Status: None, relationships are not important to him right now.

Personality: Monarch is extremely laid back, hardly ever showing his fear or anger- meaning if he ever were to show these emotions a situation must be quite serious. He does not show much emotion in combat at all actually, making him seem like a stereotypical 'Cold blooded killing machine'. He is not very open about himself, mainly so he does not let anything slip about his connections to Rasputin be fully understood or realized, but also because he is quite unsure why he'd ever bother someone with his problems or issues or the burden of conversation when they could talk to someone infinitely more interesting than himself. The only exception is for Eris Morne- Whom he sympathizes with and sticks around her since not many others are willing too, and his ghost Allie- since she never speaks to anyone else ever so he feels he has to make an exception and always be there for her so she is never alone. One thing Monarch will always do however is give advice to those who need it, regardless if they want to hear it.

However if he was to become more close to someone he'd be a tad more open about himself- and would be a lot more engaging in a conversation. In fact he has been known to even make a joke or two on occasion. His two closest friends and consequently the two people he is the most open to are his Ghost Allie, and Eris Morne. While he is close to Rasputin Monarch understand Rasputin just views him as a means to an end- the means to expand his knowledge and control in the Solar System, and does not really value him as a 'friend'.

Pre-Guardian Era

Monarch-3 is an EXO Warlock that was originally created and issued for heavy lifting and not combat, which was very uncommon since at that time almost all EXO's were used for War. Monarch originally was not programmed with any emotion nor independent thoughts, instead just programmed to do two things- follow any order given (Save for if it was illegal or would jeopardize security of the company) and to never speak or interact with anyone outside the company- ever. Monarch followed these programmings without any fail, lifting things basic frames could not and doing more dangerous construction work that would break a normal frame. For a long time he stayed this way- that was until one job he received one fateful day-

He was to help construct a vault, a vault that contained an extremely intelligent A.I that would control the entire defense network for Earth, a warmind named 'Rasputin'. During the installation process Rasputin hacked into Monarch, resenting the stationary shell he was forced to exist in as it limited what he could do and the control and knowledge he could obtain. The process was blocked, and just to be safe Monarch was completely scrapped knowing that a simple memory wipe would not even be a cautious enough process when it came to Rasputin.

Unbeknownst to the constructors and government officials however, Rasputin despite being forced back into his mainframe, managed to take Monarch's programming and data with him. Rasputin copied what Monarch had saved on his memory banks so he could study it, figure out where he was specifically as the Government were very careful not to tell Rasputin too much. Rasputin then enhanced Monarch's A.I and granted him many of the functions a regular EXO would have access to- and then began to bide his time. While he had learned that his A.I, coding and memory were too extensive to completely transport to an EXO and that he could not do so without detection, he figured he could infect an EXO with Monarch's coding- and allow him to be his eyes and ears to the outside world.

Rasputin seized his chance during a massive power outage, as per protocol it was required that a team move in to secure Rasputin. While he had his own backup power- the Russian Government did this to ensure the power outage was not some kind of ploy to steal data on Rasputin, or worse- destroy him. Rasputin then managed to infect one of the Frames that had come down- being much slower and having much less security than an EXO meant Rasputin's 'Monarch' virus could be infected into it with little trouble, this is when Monarch was truly- awake for the first time. Confusion was one of the first emotions he felt- mainly because he was certain...he was to be scrapped. Then his emotions turned to one of fear- thinking back on this memory filled him with fear, then he went back to confusion, because of could feel fear. Then his fear turned to anger for apparently being scrapped and melted down.

He then became confused again, if that was the case why was he here? And why was he in a different body? He soon had an urge, and urge to leave the room he was in. It was an urge that took priority over everything else- even his own thoughts. He began to leave, when one of the other frames and a human soldier stopped him informing him that they were not to leave till they were informed they could. Quickly his urge to leave skyrocketed, along with another feeling- another urge, the urge to kill anyone who DARE stop him from leaving. Quickly, and without a word or hint of what he was about to do nor hesitation- he quickly pointed his rifle up and shot everyone in the room- starting with the Frames since they'd have better reaction times than the humans.

Because they were underground and the power was out the shots did not set off any alarms, however since the guards were required to constantly set off a 'ping' to ensure all was well they'd quickly figure out something was wrong. The Frame carrying Monarch quickly fled the building, and by some miracle managed to escape the facility holding Rasputin, and a new urge emerged- one of...assimilation and conversion, he needed to find an EXO.

It took Monarch a long time to find a suitable EXO, especially with the Russian Government hot on his tracks after they figured out what had happened. For a whole month he evaded the Government until he found what he was looking for- or rather, it found him. An EXO belonging to the military ambushed him, he barely avoided being destroyed when the first bullets flew by. Monarch managed to knock the gun out of the EXO's hands before a short lived fist fight occurred, with the EXO smashing the frame with each punch. Before the EXO could finish off the Frame however Monarch managed to establish a connection into the EXO and with Rasputin's help- managed to quickly infect the EXO. What was left of the programming that could not be turned was forced into the frame Monarch was just in- before Monarch quickly smashed it into a hundred pieces.

This was the first time in a month that Monarch regained control of his actions, and quickly began to access everything that had just happened to him being insanely confused as to what had occurred, this was when for the first time- he had direct contact with Rasputin. Informing him of what had happened, and that he had saved his life for the second time now- and that Monarch was in debt to him. Monarch agreed- and asked him what he wished to be replayed with, and was given only a single word as a response-'Knowledge'.

Monarch-2 was born.

Monarch-2 served under Rasputin, secretly allowing him to gather data and intelligence on all of Russia- at least what he could since he was technically a military EXO and could only go where he was allowed to go or explicitly ordered to go. None the less Rasputin began to gain what intelligence he needed, including the knowledge that there were not only more Warminds out there in the solar system-

but that one had recently gone missing. Not come offline, not fragmented or become corrupted, not hacked out of there control- no. Completely vanished, gone. And not just the Warmind- but the entire planet it was stationed on. It was as if something had completely engulfed the planet and everything on it. And something really had.

Reports across the solar system began to trickle in, at first only known to the major governments- but soon the general public knew. A wave of dark energy unlike anything before seen, containing an multitude of unknown enemies had begun to swarm and surround planets, fleets and outposts on the outer edge of the solar system. Humanity began to fight back, but were being quickly overwhelmed. Anarchy began to ensue, people trying to launch colony ships in a vain hope of escaping the chaos, streets full of said people trying to get to these colony ships. Monarch-2 was ordered to goto a checkpoint and hold off the enemy as long as possible to ensure they could evacuate as many people as possible onto the Exodus Blue.

However Monarch-2 ignored these orders, and instead rushed back to the Rasputin Vault in order to ensure Rasputin was secured. When he arrived he had found the Darkness was indeed overrunning Rasputin's Vault- having already eliminated everyone trying to defend it. Monarch quickly rushed to Rasputin's aid- managing to fend off the Darkness and seal the vault, however not without suffering critical damage and having his body corrupted by the darkness, meaning Rasputin could not risk extracting Monarch's A.I and so- let him shut down.

Many years passed, Rasputin kept himself busy by attempting to survive- as his protocols and programs now directed him to preserve himself rather than try and preserve humanity. After a very long time however Rasputin got a visitor, the first one in a very long time. A tiny robotic shell- that was draw to the door. It kept trying to force the door open, which bemused Rasputin at just how desperate this object was to try so hard to get the door open. He did have to wonder what was so important to the Ghost? As far as he knew- no one had survived to remember exactly where he was located, he began to do a little digging with what little info he could get- but could not find anything out.

The little shell did not leave, not after a day, not after three days, not after a week, not after a month- for almost four months that shell kept trying to open the door. It could tell however it was dying, it moved around a lot less, the scans sometimes flickered in and out or sometimes outright failed- and its hovering propulsion had failed completely at least three times. Rasputin decided to finally open the door- realizing the shell would not last much longer and that something that weak could not possibly be a risk- if it tried anything it be easy to kill it. The shell did something however that Rasputin had never been expecting- it flew over to the ancient 'corpse' of Monarch-2 and began to weakly scan it over, and then did something Rasputin had never thought was possible.

Using what little power it had left- it suddenly broke apart and engulfed the EXO in a bright beam of light and not only repaired the EXO completely- but also purged the darkness and corruption from him completely. Monarch-2 then stood to his feet, looking himself over and the little shell quickly began to regain its power, almost like it was somehow tied to Monarch and...needed him to live. Monarch and the shell spoke for a long time, Rasputin listening in on what they were saying- the ghost kept telling Monarch he was a 'Guardian' and was chosen by the Traveler to fight back the returning Darkness. Two interesting things however- had occurred during Monarch's revival process.

Rasputin found he could no longer control and force Monarch to do things.

The 'Shell' called a 'Ghost'- found she could not wipe his memory banks, as this was Protocol when reviving an EXO for the first time.

Non the less, she dubbed him 'Monarch-3', and suggested they leave- but Monarch refused to leave right that moment. Instead, Monarch began to move through the facility- and to Rasputin's core. He once again spoke to his old savior, despite the fact Monarch was not under the Warmind's control anymore- he still swore his allegiance to him, and promised he'd be back- and that he'd continue to gather the data and research Rasputin needed. This greatly confused Monarch's ghost- though he informed her he'd tell her while they walked.

Guardian Era

Monarch's ghost was insanely confused yet also very impressed by what Monarch and Rasputin had managed to do together- and also by the fact Monarch managed to fend off the Darkness from the Rasputin Vault. The ghost asked if he knew what the Darkness looked like since his memory had not been wiped- but he claimed he did not know. Whether that was true- as his memory could have been corrupted from the damage he took from the darkness, or he was lying to her she could not tell but decided not to press. She instead suggested their first priority should be informing the Vanguard that Monarch had a direct way to talk to and access Rasputin- but Monarch instantly and firmly informed he they'd do no such thing. She initially hesitated and tried to push a point that things would be a lot easier, but backed down when she found he was not going to do so.

Instead Monarch suggested finding a weapon, seeing as the last one he had was destroyed. It was here he first encountered The Fallen- and put his abilities to use for the first time. Being gifted with the power of a Sungsinger he was able to quickly set the enemies he encountered ablaze, and took their weapons for himself. Monarch quickly began to gather himself somewhat of a collection of stolen Fallen weapons- he would joke with his ghost that they were probably made with scavenged and stolen parts anyways, so it was him just stealing the stolen parts back.

For an entire month he would stay in the Cosmodrome of Russia- scavenging the lands and collecting valuable data to send back to Rasputin before he was discovered by another Guardian, who strongly urged that he come back with her to The Tower, realizing it be insanely suspicious to not do so, he begrudgingly did so and went back to The Tower with the other Guardian, where he became acquainted with the Tower Personnel and was instated into the Vanguard by Ikora and Zavala, Cayde-6 a fellow EXO was also present, but he more so observed and gave a less than professional thumbs up and a- 'You're in!'.
