early years

she grew up as the only child of molly and william lane, unbeknownst to anyone but molly that she was actually an heir of the goddess dana. her early years were uneventful, she had a formal education as well as some experience in finances from helping her father with his work as a banker. she had every intention of becoming a teacher but before she could start working towards her goal, at the age of 18 a young suitor from a wealthy family asked for her hand in marriage. she was opposed to it, wanting to focus on her dream of being a teacher but her father convinced her to accept for the interest of their family.

the first months of her marriage were civil. she tried to get to know her new husband, nathan cox, but it seemed he was always too busy for her company. to her dismay she quickly realized he had no interest in her as a person and only wanted an heir. as the months went on with her not getting pregnant, nathans true colors started to show. he started with isolating her which quickly devolved into verbal abuse. she tired to reach out to her parents for help but every time it seemed that he was two steps ahead and would intercept and communications, making her situation worse any time he found out. before long he was physically abusing her as well, hitting her over small things. she lived in fear of him for years, just taking it until she realized she was pregnant. she knew if he treated her this way there was no telling how he would treat a child and she couldn't bring herself to let that happen. she went behind his back, finding a doctor that would help her with terminating the pregnancy. she went through with it and was told that there was a very big chance that she wouldn't be able to get pregnant again. she knew that if nathan found out her life would get considerably worse so she started to plan her eascape. in the dead of night she packed a small bag of things and left out a window.

once free she headed to the docks where she quiet literally ran into garrick goff. she pleaded with him to help her get away from here and although he was against it at first, he eventually caved. he convinced his captain, percival huber, to let her travel with them until their next port. percy on the other hand wasn't as easily convinced but after she offered to help around the ship he accepted the offer, telling her she needed to keep up or she would be thrown overboard. she was tasked with being the cook after the last one had an "accident", or so thats what everyone on the ship would tell her. she had no problem with her assignment until she started to realize the strange quantities of fresh meat she was supplied to cook with. she started to ask around, everyone just brushing her off until she asked garrick. they grown close over the journey and she could tell he knew something so she kept asking. he eventually caved, telling her what the meat really was and trying to convince her it was out of necessity, even though he was starting to doubt it himself. he didn't want her to act out after realizing what was going on, making her prommise not to cause any trouble and just keep her head down until the next port. she issolated herself from the crew, including garrick for a while until he asked to join her on her adventure once they docked. once she learned how he was manipulated into joining the crew she said yes and they planned to leave together. all was well until they neared port, percy had found out garricks plan. as punishment he threw dennis overboard and tortured garrick before doing the same to him. although they were close to the docks, they weren't nearly close enough to be able to make the swim. she passed out on her way to shore, unaware if garrick was alive or dead.

to her surprise she woke up in a bed, finding out she had been saved from drowning by a nice couple. soren and amaya helped nurse her back to health and get her back on her feet, giving her a job once she was able at their inn. although she loved their company and was greatful for the job, she was restless staying in one place. although she hated percy, she couldn't deny being on his ship out on the ocean was the freest she had felt in her life. she longed for that again until a mysterious strange visited the inn. after finding out he was the captain of a ship she convinced him to allow her a spot on his crew.
