Rory

Rory was born to a middle-class family in Iceland. He was an only child, with a passion for baseball. However, after his parents died in a terrorist attack, he was left orphaned and found his new home in a Wayne-funded orphanage. He grew to enjoy playing baseball and realized he was a very good pitcher. He made baseball his entire life for years, up until he was ten. While he was playing at a game, he was approached by Bruce Wayne, who offered to take him in. Seeing the opportunity to start fresh, and find a family, he happily agreed.

Rory was immediately informed of what he had gotten himself into. Eager to impress his new father, he agreed and took the mantle of Robin. After training for two years, he began to fight crime alongside Batman at roughly twelve years old. He kept himself at a distance from criminals most of the time, relying on technology he could either throw from long distances or operate remotely. Bruce often scrutinized him for not innovating, which lead to his passion for techology and engineering. He grew to love creating new gadgets, which impressed Bruce. He made modifications to the Batmobile and helped create new technology to better assist in their ventures. Rory was happy that he was getting the approval he craved from his adoptive father, and continued to do whatever made him happy.

After leaving Bruce, Rory hid out in the lower income parts of Gotham, eventually meeting friends and forming a band. His old life fizzled behind him as he tried to start fresh once again. Once he met his girlfriend Bea at 19, who worked for Wayne Industries, the old hatred sparked up again. The thought that Bruce Wayne was still getting away with adopting children and neglecting them gnawed away at him, and he decided that he had to do something about it.

He began to interfere with Batman's crime fighting, by helping criminals to get free when they were in a tough spot. Rory's hopes were to lower the city's support for Batman, and then reveal how toxic he truly was, and what he was really like underneath the mask. It was how he earned his name, Speedbump, being a hurdle for Batman.

He has worked with numerous villains, and keeps tabs on all of them. Often, he makes deals to collect intel on other villains' rivals in exchange for safety from them. Rory has his base in an old warehouse, where he stores computers that connect to cameras and speakers all over Gotham, as well as tracking devices. Although he does not consider himself a criminal, and still follows Batman's strict no-killing policy, he collects money and gains reputation by selling radioactive crystals, which can be used as an underground, untrackable source of energy. His hatred towards Bruce has spiralled down into obsessiveness.
