Instead she got herself a bartending qualification and spent her late teens and early twenties working in various clubs and bars in the nearby city.
Nowadays, you can find Betsie throwing back drinks rather than serving them, a regular in a selection of some of the higher class establishments.
She thrives in the city nightlife, and works hard to disguise her country roots from her city friends.

While currently working as a personal shopper, Betsie likes to keep her finger on the pulse of current and upcoming fashion trends, and still harbours dreams of being a designer.
Trendy and outgoing, she tends to make fast friends, though a lot of these friendships tend to be surface level and never grow to far beyond that.
She also has a habit of playing matchmaker, and loves to set friends up on potential dates and discussing love lives. Despite this, she can't seem to find the right person for herself.

Her younger sister is Patty and their relationship is somewhat strained.
Betsie feels that Patty is wasting her life toiling away on the family farm, while Patty considers Betsie's lifestyle to be frivolous and superficial.
