Story Summary

Sehrid Athe'maira is one of a pair of elven boys born to the Athe'maira family, and is obviously the elder of the two. The Athe'maira family lives in the city amongst the many other races that inhabit the world Golarion, but maintain strong ties back to their home clan. They therefore serve to supply their clan with what few things the elves need but cannot obtain easily from the forest, and also provide an easy avenue from which they can sell their goods. On top of this, the family also owned a chain of taverns within the city, thus allowing the twins and their younger sister the wherewithal to live fairly comfortable lives. 

Much like his sister, Sehquis, Sehrid enjoyed reading, but the two siblings differed in their preferred choice of genre. While Sehquis lost herself in books on arcane lore and mystical arts, Sehrid dove into worlds of heroes fighting evil, adventurers travelling the land as they would. This, then decided the path in life he wanted to take. And he was determined to make his mark on the world. And a hero would always need a weapon by which he would be known, would he not? Sehrid had decided as soon as he was old enough he would master both blade and bow for he was, after all, an elf.

Then, one day, with his family they attended a play. And in that play the hero was a gunslinger, who with panache and style dispatched his foes with deadly efficiency and many cool one-liners. So entranced was young Sehrid by the gunslinger that he was determined to now use pistols as his weapon; for they were such exotic weapons that he would be recognized almost instantly. But he knew no one who could teach him to use these rare weapons. With the aid of his parents' taverns' barkeeps, however, he soon found the location of a dwarven gunsmith. After much cajoling, stalking, annoying and persistence, the exasperated dwarf finally agreed to take on the elf as an apprentice.

Through the many years of apprenticeship, Sehrid learnt about the making and care of firearms; the casting of bullets; the forging of barrels; the very careful art of making gunpowder; the pungent arsenal of curses dwarvish held. Many firearms crossed his path in those years, and he saw all sorts of odd and inventive ways of detonating gunpowder to hurl lead downrange.

Eventually his master decided to return home, and closed down his shop. By now the elf had been with the dwarf for almost a decade, and though he would rather give up beer for life than admit it, the young elf had rather grown on him. Thus it was that as a graduation present of sorts, he presented the elf with a gun of his own; a musket.
