Remus was born outside of Jabberwock city, to Nakamura Hana, a known Yakuza boss, and Roman Ivanov, a known Russian Mob boss. He has a twin brother, Romulus Nakamura-Ivanov, older than him by 13 minutes. Their very early life was relatively unremarkable, other than the fact that they rarely left home. Their parents had many enemies and few friends, and so the very existence of the twins was virtually unknown, and zero offical documentation exists of them during this time. No birth certificants, no school reports, nothing.

One night when the twins were about seven, Remus was awoken by his brother and abruptly pulled out of the house and into the night. Their parents' buisness had finally caught up with them, and Hana had tasked Romulus with sneaking himself and his brother out of the house safely. By the time they made it outside, both their parents were already dead. Remus only ever heard the shouting and gunshots. Despite them being otherwise completely transparent with each other, Romulus refuses to give him the actual details of their parents' deaths.

From that point forward, the twins were alone. They went through many families--some being mandated foster care and some simply being strangers with and without personal agendas. They never stayed anywhere for very long, and never allowed themselves to be separated. While they did meet some genuinely kind people, their overall experience taught them to trust no one and to manipulate others to get what they wanted. Although certain fundamental aspects of Remus's personality were already formed, it was during this period that he became a colder and more sadistic person, angered by the cruelty they encountered on a daily basis.

By their pre-teens, Remus and Romulus were self-sufficent. They became wrapped up in the lower levels of the crime world, pulling small cons and robberies. Their identical nature was a valueable trick when it came to scamming others. As teenagers, they managed to hold a few jobs despite their limited record, but again found themselves uncomfortable. Having managed to build a small name for themselves in the crime world (helped along by their parents' notoriety) the twins set their sights on organized crime. This led them to Chimera.

At age 25, Remus and Romulus join Chimera, a small but quickly-rising gang that mostly deals in stolen artifacts. The gang has been in opporation for about two years already, and the twins are brought on as lackeys after some consideration from the close-knit higher-ups. Although Romulus finds contentment in simply having a relatively stable stream of support and income that also suits their skills, Remus has always been ambitious. He comes up with a plan to frame Kai Garcia, the youngest and most tenuously trusted member of the leading trio, for treason to the gang. Kai is already in hot water within the gang because connections of his killed their original leader. Remus reads the other two leaders, Sadie and Sol, and takes advantage of Sadie's distrustful nature and Sol's paranoia to convince them that Kai is sharing information with rival gangs. Because of their history, Kai is not initially killed, simply thrown out of the gang and completely disgraced. Driven out of his mind by anger and despair, Kai returns with the intent to kill Remus. However, he ends up attacking Romulus instead, and is shot and killed by Remus. After this final proof of Kai's "disloyality", Remus is given his position in the gang, and becomes the "King of Hearts".

The next few years see Chimera rise to power and quickly become one of the most powerful gangs in the city of Jabberwock. During this time, they enlist many new members, including Remus's bodyguard, Eli. The two have a very strange relationship--Eli openly argues with Remus and insults him often, but he is also unquestionably loyal and devoted to Remus entirely. It becomes quickly apparent to others that Eli is in love with Remus. Remus responds to this by using it as a manipulation tactic--because he is a huge asshole. When Eli loses a leg attempting to protect Remus, most would say it's gone a little far. Remus is not entirely convinced. However, his own feelings about Eli are a lot more complcated than he's letting on.

Just over eight years into Chimera's reign over Jabberwock City, they run into a problem. They have a mole, and no one can figure out who it is. If they don't find out soon, their entire empire may just come crumbling down around them. But that's getting worked up over nothing. Chimera is untouchable, after all.

For this section to exist in any meaningful capacity I would need to actually know what happens to the gang IN canon, let alone after. Here's some random plot points in no particuar order.

Modern AU: a mostly happy, fluffy world set in modern-day Canada. Also includes a college/university au. It mostly exists for AU character interactions.

Bad End Timeline (also known as AMAU or the arranged marriage au): one bad relationship between Tyler Adair and Maya Astor butterfly effects into an alternate universe in which at least 3 people die and no less than ten friendships are permanently ruined. In this AU, Remus gets murdered by Eli. That's kind of his whole contribution.

Timeloop AU:The day Eli loses his leg in canon, Remus dies instead. Eli is going to fix this no matter how long it takes.

HP AU:put as many gay and trans ppl into hogwarts as possible. Remus is a slytherin 6th year and beater for the quidditch team. He and his brother were raised in the muggle world, but have stayed around Hogwarts since they were accepted into it.

Modern Royals AU: Someone wants to start a war between Remus's kingdom and a neighboring one by setting it up that he ordered the assasination of the other kingdom's beloved prince. This is problematic for both of them.

Fantasy/Dragon Royals AU: In which Remus is a possesive bastard of a dragon and some dumbass knight wanders into danger near him.

Supernatural (creatures) AU: Human Tyler works as a monster-hunting detective, completely unaware that literally everyone he works with is a monster of some kind. Remus and Romulus are vampires. Everyone assumes they're werewolves, because COME ON, but no.

1920s (but in the future) AU: In a Daedalus-adjacent universe, socialite Komira Lumiere goes missing under mysterious circumstances, leaving her fiance Vex to approach Detective Tyler Adair. Meanwhile, gang tensions brew around the speakeasy known as Lycia and it's...unusual clientele.

History/War AU: In the canon timeline, there was a war between magic users and non-magic users. This au boots the main cast back in time to the creation of Jabberwock.

Apocalypse/War AU: In a similar vein to the War AU, this one throws the main cast into the future, where the land humanity has tamed finally flips its shit and starts rebelling, with plants ready to throw hands with you at every turn.
