About

Appearance

At a first glance, Katana seems confident and level-headed, but also secretive as she doesn’t tend to reveal much about herself. She talks about things in a rational manner and doesn’t jump to conclusions. She doesn’t dwell on “what ifs”, but instead focuses on the task at hand. Everything she does, she does with purpose.

However, once someone gets to know her better, they may start noticing these little details that contradict her otherwise collected appearance. The way her ears tilt slightly sideways or backwards to express her emotions before she corrects them. The way she never lets herself get cornered. The way her optics widen in fear for a split second even though there’s no immediate danger present. There’s definitely much more going on than she lets on.

For an unknown reason, Katana never removes her mask around others.

Katana used to have much larger variety of weapons, but after quitting her career as a Secret Agent, all she’s had are her retractable metal claws and tail that can either act as a whip or open from its end into a small plasma blaster.

Katana's vehicle mode is a grey-and-white motorcycle. Her beast mode is a quadruped feline. When in beast mode, her height is about 3 ft/1 m. She’s capable of using her claws and tail in this form, too, but she mostly uses it when she needs to hide or fit through small spaces.

Personality

Katana is a determined and serious femme who has a deep sense of loyalty. She’s always devoted herself for Autobots, to the point where she’s been ready to sacrifice herself for their sake. She’s very matter-of-fact and reserved, and she doesn’t show her emotions easily. This doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be emotional; she just keeps her emotions in check, afraid to be vulnerable around others.

Back story

After all that has happened, Katana can’t remember everything about her past clearly. She does know that she used to be a Rescue Bot before the war; once the war started, she was asked to become a Secret Agent. To cover up her absence during her training, she “disappeared” on one of the team’s missions and returned later after “miraculously surviving from the accident”. On the surface, it seemed like she simply continued to work alongside the team of Rescue Bots, but in reality, she was conveying information about their missions to higher ups, keeping a lookout for Decepticons and ensuring her team’s safety.

As the war continued to get worse, the mass evacuations began and many bots, including almost everyone in Katana’s team, evacuated. Katana stayed behind as she was needed as a Secret Agent, but her closest teammate and partner, Groundshift, refused to leave her behind. She trusted him enough to let him know that she was needed here for her new mission. Although she couldn’t tell him much, he chose to stay behind with her.

Although Katana can’t remember everything they went through together, she knows that she trusted Groundshift with all her spark and she knew him like the back of her servo. Or at least she thought so.

During one of her solo missions, Katana entered a Decepticon hideout in search of vital information. However, the Decepticons had been expecting her and caught her immediately. Much to Katana’s shock, Groundshift was among the Decepticons, clearly affiliated with them. Katana wasn’t sure if he was a Secret Agent, too, or if he’d decided to switch factions, or if it was something else. It didn’t matter: all she knew was that he’d betrayed her.

The following events have mostly been wiped out of her memory ─ due to the traumatic experience or by external means, she isn’t sure. She knows that she managed to flee the hideout after being tortured for indefinite amount of time. Part of her wants to believe that Groundshift helped her to get out, but she’s quite certain she fought her way out herself. Whatever the case, once she got out, she was rescued by a team of Autobots that had been on lookout for her after they hadn’t heard from her in due time.

After these events, Katana ended up with PTSD and depression. Due to the war going on around them, there wasn’t any professional help easily available, and while the base she was located in was able to keep her safe from danger, the responsibility to get through her mental disorders fell solely on her own shoulders.

Katana was able to overcome her issues and accept what had happened, but those events did leave a permanent mark on her. She grew exhausted more easily and needed more time to recover. She couldn’t handle the pressure like she’d used to. She started to forget details of events that had taken place way before she was tortured by Decepticons. In the end, she had to give up on her career as a Secret Agent.

Once it became apparent that Cybertron would be a lost cause, Katana was offered a new position on Earth. She could work as a solo Scout and explore the planet, gather information about potential Energon mines, keep an optic out for Decepticons and so on. Hopefully this would help Autobots settle in to their new home and prevent Decepticons from bringing harm to them or the native species of Earth. Katana accepted the new position without a hesitation, relieved to know there could still be some use for her.

Now Katana is on Earth. She firmly believes that her life is as it should be, and her whole purpose is to serve Autobots and ensure their success, even if it would mean spending the rest of her days alone or disposing her life for the greater good.
