ABOUT
A kind-hearted traveller esk, Scamper cares deeply about all beings in her boundary, and will do her best to look after them. She observes unexpected visitors with caution but generally is inclined to assume they're peaceful until proven otherwise, and will act as a welcoming if invisible host. However she also loves to travel - even leaving her biome behind at times. She can usually feel if something bad happens at home though, and will return instantly in that case to take care of things.

She remembers very little of her human life. She still enjoys exploring the sea of her boundary and even venturing outside it, despite the side effects. She also knows she came from far, far away, but doesn't remember the place, and generally is optimistic she is much better off where she is now. And she knows the Morse code. She never forgot it - this is the only reason she knows, abstractly, that she must have been a human, because they are the only ones who use this code. Now if only she could remember how to put letters together to form words... She doesn't know why she chose a name that seems so at odds with her nature; it just seemed right for her, and she does enjoy the irony. Subconciously, she derived it from the last living creature she saw before her transformation - not counting the spirit who transformed her: a patch of Antarctic hair grass, Deschampsia antarctica.

STORY
As a female scientist in the early twentieth century, Scamper's life wasn't easy - nonetheless, she was a easygoing, kind-hearted woman. She was a skillful marine biologist working as a lab assistant in exchange for being allowed to use the lab in her off hours for her own research. When her workgroup put together an expedition to the scarcely explored Antarctic, there was no holding her back, and after many, many hours of wearing down the head of the expedition - with the support of some of her colleagues and against the resistance of others - she was allowed to join, not the least because she was the only person available who could send messages in Morse code at any reasonable speed. Their ship got caught in a storm in the treacherous waters of the polar sea, and no member of the expedition was ever heard from again.
Scamper quickly feels at home in her new body, and boundary, and remembers little of her previous life. She finds her purpose in watching over the strip of Antarctic coast she is bounds to. Her eyespots manifest soon after her transformation as she familiarizes herself with her circumstances - think of it as a baby animal changing into its adult colouration. She feels very calm and at ease, and retains much of her curiosity and kindness.
