Bast

Bast is well-traveled senior adventurer who is regarded as one of the guild's best teachers.  A monster took her arm some time ago, but it never slowed her down.  In fact, she combined her wide knowledge of magic and her love of strange gadgets to create a prosthetic that made her even better than before.  The strange device includes a hook for grasping, a mallet to play her beloved percussion instruments, and a whiplike sword for shredding monsters.  To switch between them, all she needs to do is whistle a short, magical melody.

Curiosity is central to Bast's life.  It's what drove her to become an adventurer in the first place, and it's what keeps her going on missions long past her compatriots' retirements.  There's always a new observation to be made, a new island to be mapped, and a new story to tell.  Her enthusiasm can be contagious, and that's a big part of what makes her such a great mentor.  Then again, her assumption that everyone shares her zeal can drive certain people up the wall.

She has weird professor energy.  She'll ramble about incredibly niche topics for hours if given even the slightest chance.  She will absolutely go off on anyone spouting weird conspiracy theories or pseudoscience.  She definitely names her gizmos fun mad scientist names.

Bast was always a bit ahead of Beyo in age and rank, but they became friends after a few shared missions.  Grendel is currently her student, but only because no one else really wanted him as an apprentice.  The twins, Sol and Lune, also studied under her for a while.
