The Guide

The Guide's true name and story has been long forgotten.  He is known to appear on behalf of a spirit or god and pull the desired mortal into nonexistence, to be returned later.  According to reports, he never speaks - he merely keeps the mortal travelers safe and directs their journey to and from the appropriate deity.  This has earned him his title, as well as the nickname "errand boy of the gods."  

According to folklore, the Guide pleaded to the gods to share their knowledge and be able to walk among them.  He pleaded so often and so convincingly that they obliged - he was granted the ability to walk in the spirit realm and full knowledge of each of the gods.  Unfortunately, he was not granted the privilege of sharing that knowledge, nor was he granted any powers of his own.  Instead, he spends eternity doing chores and fetching mortals on the gods' behalf.
