bastard child of a noble and casteless. 

casteless parent kept her in dust town with them, but eventually beat her nearly to death and threw her into the deep roads when she was around 9 years old. basically lived as a wild child with the deepstalkers (where she managed to stay away from the darkspawn a majority of the time, and if they did find her the deepstalkers would protect her) until the age of around 13, when Reha Aeducan and her squadmates came across her when they made a wrong turn into a deepstalker nest on the hunt for Branka. Reha and Alistair noticed signs of the blight in her, but were puzzled when they realized her mental state wasnt gone like those normally affected. 

Violet had limited speech, only knowing a handful of words, and behaved like deepstalkers would, making it difficult for the warden to get her to trust them. some dumb shit happens and it all works out and Violet becomes a squadmate. yeha. she gets the hang of being around people quickly and is very intelligent articulating and remembering words, eventually learning how to read and write with the help of them.

after looking out for her for a while, Reha and Alistair begin to see the blight in her slowly getting worse, and against her better judgement, when Morrigan asks the warden to kill Flemeth, Reha does so, or at least, thats what they think she did. she went alone to the korcari wilds and proposed a proposition to the old witch, she can have her life if she tells her how to do the joining, something Flemeth of course saw coming. Flemeth told her to bring the child and she would preform it on her, which she did, bringing Alistair with them, him being the only one who knew.

just like that the ritual was done, Violet was a grey warden, Flemeth was gone, and Morrigan was none the wiser.
