| Personality | Excitable and quirky, Beet can be very off-putting to those who can't handle a lot of yapping. They're very honest, and will let pretty much anyone know anything. They also have a tendency to overstep other's boundaries without realizing, trying to get too close too fast, and lightheartedly criticizing others. | |
| History | Beet and his littermate Radish were raised by a pair of agricultural workers who specialized in digging up vegetables and planting seeds. They didn't have a lot of time for their puppies, and expected them to be well-behaved at all times, which Beet struggled with due to their energy level. This led to their parents favouring their sister, who was similarly annoyed with Beet. Many of the kids at school found Beet came on too strong, and didn't want to be around them long. When they grew older, Beet found out about trans people and excitedly came out as non-binary soon after. Their parents didn't take it seriously or believe it was a real thing, and their sister was very mean about it, believing Beet was only saying that to get closer with females. At the same time, Beet struggled at school due to their short attention span. Their poor grades were often leveraged against them in arguments about the validity of their identity. After graduating, they applied to work in the fields like their parents, deciding it would probably be the closest fit, as they had a lot of energy to work out and wouldn't need to continue their education. They saw hesitance in their employers' eyes. They started going to the Discotheque, and absolutely loved being around other queer folk and dance music. They had to be kicked out at close every night for a while before they convinced Andante to let them stay. Andante had them try out DJing for the club, and they loved it. They moved into the club's closet after a few parting 'fuck you's to their family. They really admired Andante and Choir for letting them join the team, and got a poodle cut to resemble them better. A mysterious tomcat with a streak of green fur approached them in the street to talk to them about the club's music. The two of them eventually started loaning each other records, and Beet learned really fast to listen to them before playing them for the party-goers as they didn't always fit the vibe. The cat wouldn't tell them his name or why he had such a large collection, but Beet wasn't too put off by it and just called him green guy. Unfortunately, the power went out so they couldn't really listen to things for a while. They met with green guy a few times despite this, but he seemed to vanish after a while, which worried them. They were also worried about Andante, as he and his partner Wilfred had broken up and Andante was very moody about it. Beet tried to trick Wilfred into coming back, but it didn't work. | |
