Ren

Ren is the 3rd son of the Yamikage-gumi which is part of the Daikage Alliance—A crime syndicate that is based in Osaka. Ren's father, Seizou was the oyabun up until he was forced to step down after many scandals that posed the clan in a bad light & health issues. Ren's uncle Hanzo took over, standing as the "acting" chairman of the clan until things smooth over.

One of the incidents that caused the the clan to look bad & ultimately lead to the deaths of many members was due to Ren's childishness. He was messing with a girl who also fooled around with a rival gang member. Said rival confronted Ren about it & he slashed his face open with his butterfly knife leading to a fight Ren & his kobun would win. Wanting revenge on Ren after being humiliated & mutilated he eventually gets what he wants when a man who happens to be Ren's cousin, Kagami conspires with him. Kagami sets up a party at the docks inviting his cousins Ren, Seiya, and Akira to attend with the intention of getting a hit out on all of them. As the party starts—akira not making it until the aftermath, the rival gang that Ren had fought proceeded to start a shoot out that injures Ren and kills his older brother Seiya.

Two months after the tragedy at the docks Ren fully recovered, goes to visit his friend Mitsuki in Tokyo. He gets arrested by police and sent to jail for multiple counts of weapons/drugs dealing—something he never committed. Unbeknownst to Ren he was set up by his uncle so that he was one more heir out of the way. Because his uncle was acting as chairman he convinced the others of the board, including Ren's father, to be temporarily be exiled from the clan. With no one to turn to Ren spent his time in prison fending for himself. Ren was sentenced to a minimum of 25 years in prison until a man in a trench coat visited him to give Ren an ultimatum. To come work for him or to live out his 25yr sentence for crimes he didn't commit. Ren took the deal, was released.
