The door latched behind them, Eric kicked off his shoes and threw his keys on the side, which promptly slid off and fell to the wooden floor with a clatter. He glared at the keys, cleared his throat and said "A drink for m'lady? Something fruity I expect"
Jess stood there awkwardly, one hand clutching her bag, the other holding the opposite arm "Um, just a beer if you have one?"
"A beer? Well, that's not very ladylike" He laughed through his nose.
"Or whatever you have" She said quietly, but quite firmly. The date had been quite trying, but it had been a while since Jess had seen anyone and she was still clinging to the idea that this guy could turn it around.
He placed a glass of white wine in her hand "Oh er, thanks". Jess was not a wine expert, but even she could smell this was cheap.
"So, Jessie" He leant on the kitchen work surface, hand on hip, glass in the other, he swirled it in an attempt to look seductive. "What music do you like?"
"Oh! Well, I'm a big fan of-"
"I personally love Coldplay, I just really feel the music, y'know?" He interrupted. Jess nodded. There was an awkward silence. Jess sipped the wine and made a mental note not to drink the whole glass, it was very unpleasant.

Finally she spoke "How long have you lived here then Eric?"
"It's actually my mums place, she lives with her boyfriend now, so I don't even have to pay rent!" Replied Eric."
"Ah, it's nice"
He leaned back triumphantly "That figure over there is from Africa, a little girl from the local tribe got really attached to me and carved it herself, it took her days!"
"It's lovely" Jess knew it was from B&M, she had seen it yesterday.
"And that one was given to me by Shaolin Monks, they said I'd be brilliant at Karate, if it wasn't for my knee, you know?"
Jess didn't know how to respond to that, plus the figure looked like it was India to her. She just smiled.

"You're a shy one, aren't you?" He said as he sidled over and touched her arm. There was no denying it, Eric was absolutely gorgeous, his hair was great, he smelled nice and his complexion was second to none. It was a crime that he was such as ass. Jess looked at him in the eyes for the first time since they'd met up earlier, they were beautiful too and she realised she had got lost in them.
It all felt like blur, but it wasn't long before they were in his bedroom, under his duvet.

Eric was still dead asleep when Jess woke up "Urg, for god's sake." She groaned to herself. Thankfully her clothes were in easy reach and his flat was mercifully quite as she snuck out the door and out of his life forever.
