A fuzzy-furred fawn tabby-and-white cat with amber eyes. They smell of mountain wind, fresh water, and flowers, which they tendd to wear behind their ears or woven into their fur.

Voice Claim: Eva Green as Vanessa Ives (Penny Dreadful).

Personality

Penstamonwatcher is a cat that is a bit… off.

They look perfectly normal at first glance, of course; why wouldn't they? But when you learn how they act, well... things change. They move silently everywhere they go and are an expert at going unnoticed — they also tend to insert themselves into conversations without warning, and have a bad habit of startling other cats whenever they do. They also enjoy hanging out in high places, as well as hopping down when other cats are around that haven't spotted them. They can be quite impulsive, too, acting on the first thing that comes to their mind with no second thoughts. This has improved greatly since their youth — where they once would have run into a forest strange noises are coming from with no hesitation, they would now demand other cats come with them, at least — but the first thought that comes to their mind is often the one they will stick with, and they can be hard to dissuade from it.

They, in general, have little to no filter, and will often spit out whatever thoughts come to their mind. They'll declare out of nowhere that fish are snakes (no limbs, scales, slithery), or what if something were to leap out at them from that patch of shadows right this second? Good thing nothing's there. Probably. They also give out weird responses to everyday phrases or things: "I should go to sleep," would get a, "But you have so much to live for," or "I'll see you later!" would get, "That's what they all say." The energy they carry with them wherever they go is firmly in the camp of anything you do between three and four am, or walking out of the movie theater when it's dark out, or driving in the dark. In general, they have a habit of unsettling others... and the worst part is, they don't even seem to notice.

Or maybe they do. Maybe they even enjoy it. You'd never know, their poker face is too good.

First and foremost, though, they care about their Clan. They love where they live and are loyal to the cats around them, wanting to make sure that all their Clanmates are as healthy and happy as they can be. They are fiercely loyal, and would never abandon LochClan for anything. Their loyalty and dedication aren't exactly natural... but it's better than the alternative, so they pour their heart and soul into LochClan and don't let anything stop them.

Also, they will allow those close to them to call them Pens.

History

Penstemonkit was born in LochClan, as the only kit of a sickly molly. They had littermates — five of them, in fact — but all except them were stillborn. For their first few moons of life, they were weak and fragile, too, but as they got older they grew stronger. They grew up with another cat about their age, who was also the only kit of their litter. They never got along, though — they've been at each other's throats since they started walking, and have simply never gotten along. Even at their shared warrior ceremony, the only thing that kept them from fighting was the fact that the leader and deputy had their eyes on them.

Their sire was a RiftClan tom, who was happy where they were, and though they loved their mate they did not want to move. As such, Penstemonkit only met them when they became an apprentice, at their first Gathering. Their relationship is a bit awkward, but the both of them still care about each other. A few moons after they became a 'paw, their mother passed away, which helped them and Snowheart grow closer as they bonded over their grief.

During their training, they befriended a molly named Martenpaw, who was only two moons older than them. She was kind and open, and they found Penstemonpaw's antics amusing, and Penstemonpaw quickly developed feelings for them; though, they never acted on them until they were both warriors, Martenpaw having earned the name of Martenfluff, Penstemonpaw becoming Penstemonwatcher alongside her rival (During their shared vigil, they almost came to blows, but managed to survive the night without any fighting).

Over their time as apprentices, the pair’s disdain for each other turned into something more competitive. They would often do their best to out-do the other (and Penstemonwatcher was always doing their best to show off to Martenfluff); by the time they were warriors, they were pretty even when it came to their competition, with each of them getting apprentices of their own. Penstamonwatcher’s was Thicketpaw, and while they trained him, they confessed their feelings to Martenfluff, who returned them, and they began to court.

Unfortunately, both Martenfluff and Thicketleg died during the White Death.

Ever since, Pens has thrown herself into serving its clan — volunteering for every patrol that comes its way, doing whatever business needs to be done, and even setting its rivalry aside in favor of taking care of LochClan.
