Mizuki Iwai is the daughter of Munehisa and Tae Iwai, adopted younger sister to Kaoru Iwai. The first thing people usually notice about her is that she has a very dry sense of humor, prone to smirking and quips. Mizuki doesn't care for others' opinions of her, having an independent streak a mile wild. But despite her seemingly aloof exterior, Mizuki has a deep passion for helping people, children especially. This desire to help children led her to pursue child psychology.

• Mizuki's name means "auspicious hope".
• Mizuki's voice is notably husky and can be described as sultry. Her voice claim is Jennifer Hale.
• Akari is the only one who can call her "Mizu". Mizuki sometimes calls Akari "Kari".
• Mizuki's hair is quite thick and messy, so often times Mizuki only half-combs. This habit often drives Akari crazy and leads to her combing out Mizuki's hair.
• She grew up with Akari, being one of Akari's very first friends. But it wasn't until Akari returned from her studies abroad that they grew close enough to develop feelings for each other and start dating.
• Prior to when she and Akari started dating, Akari sought her out for help with Akari's little brother, Tatsuo. He had wound up running in a bad group of friends and Akari was uneasy about returning to school. She asked Mizuki if she could help keep an eye on on Tatsuo. Mizuki agreed and while Tatsuo did not initially appreciate being "babysat", the two of them eventually got closer. Mizuki sometimes jokingly calls him "grumpy boy".
