The Immortal Lotus
"Just because you're a demon doesn't mean you're one with bad intentions"
Xiu Shui is the goddess of health, prosperity, strength, and wisdom. She's one of the first gods that became an immortal with mortal human origin. She takes pride in her work as a goddess and caretaker of the soul lotuses. Her past self is nothing like her current self but she tries to avoid conflict when she can due to her experiences as a former human soldier. Xiu Shui is respected by a handful of gods, including the Jade Emperor due to how Qiang Ming and Gonggong explained her situation. She lived as a mortal for about 22 years before she became immortal. Her life as a human solider is something that haunts her in the shadows. As a child born into war, she only knew blood, death, and chaos. Even after hundreds of years, the voices of her fellow soldiers and enemies still haunt her. She does her best to try and hide her past from those she's close with. The only ones who truly know about her past are her adopted fathers.
Being the goddess of a village sounded overwhelming for her when she became immortal, but once she understood the people, she immediately went to work with helping them any way she can. Due to her kind and caring nature, this earned her respect from the villagers as well as nearby minor deities. Her name slowly began to cross all around china, traveling through people, gods, deities, and even demons. Even though Xiu Shui tries to avoid conflict majority of the time, she'll still use it as a last resort. She takes advantage of her skills and knowledge from her previous life as a human solider, using those assests to protect the village and her people. She's come across demons of all kinds, both good and bad. Demons have tried to take over her village due to its vast resources but they always failed in the end. Majority of them gave up, but some stubborn demons will try once in a while to take a soul or two.
Later on, during her fresh hundred years of being a goddess, she took on Ne Zha and Ao Bing as her apprentices. She developted a respectful student/teacher relationship with the two of them. Both deities got attached to Xiu Shui due to her kind and caring nature. After her apprenticeship with the two deities, she took on more and more students slowly, two of them were half-demons as well. Xiu Shui's reputation and name pratically sky-rockted faster than she expected, but two demons she met, were the ones who caught her attention the most.

Summary
The Daughter of the Sea
The Immortal Lotus, also known as the Daughter of the Sea, is the story of a young woman born into war and grew to become a goddess. The young woman was but a mere child when she first tasted war. She knew nothing but death, destruction, and bloodshed. Over the years as she grew, she began to grow restless over the countless battles and constant bloodshed of her comrades. One night, she prayed out by the sea, she wished upon the moon itself to grant her a miracle where the war would end. The miracle itself came in the form of a young man. The two younglings slowly began to fall in love. The man was captivated by her beauty, claiming that she outshined the lotuses that grew, while the young woman was enchanted by his knowledge
They soon became secret lovers. Whispers of sweet nothings were shared between them night after night…but just like a curse, he was taken away from her by the ravenous war. The young woman cursed everyone that she knew out of pure agony and sheer pain. She shouted her cries out to the sea, wanting everyone that brought her into war to be swept away. Her prayers were soon answered as every single soul and body she knew was swept away by a typhoon. Their lives becoming one with the sea itself. She became to be the only survivor of her clan. Due to the excruciating pain she still felt from the death of her lover, she began to slowly wish for death…but spirits from the moon and sea intervened once their heard her cries of agony. The grand spirits of both the sea and moon granted her the gift of immortality, claiming that she didn’t need to wish for death. She needed to experience life as it is, both witnessing the cycle of life and death before her eyes
The grand spirits granted her more than just immorality. She was granted everlasting beauty that shined the blossoming lotuses and the most precious gems. The grand spirit of the Sea granted her the ability to control the sea as well as any other body of water. The grand spirit of the Moon granted her never ending strength and wisdom. She soon began to be called The Immortal Lotus by travelers who shared their adventures, claiming how the young woman had the wisdom of a grand captain and the beauty of a blooming lotus. Legends state that those who seek her out are granted the chance of immorality if they deem themselves worthy to her. Other simple legends describe the grand palace she resides in on the sea itself, surrounded by the protection of mountains, a clear view of the moon staying in sight. Spirits of the Sea guard the grand palace with great strength while spirits of the Moon shine down on the palace, making its beauty stand out in the moonlight. People who roam the palace were once mortals now deemed as Immortals working under the woman herself as a token of gratitude and loyalty towards her. No one knows where the palace is truly located or when it appears, but myths state that the palace will reveal itself to the center of the Sea’s mouth
Gonggong
[ adopted father ]
Gonggong is the god of the sea and Xiu Shui's second adopted father. Similar to Qiang Ming, Gonggong watched Xiu Shui grow from a young age. Gonggong is patient with Xiu Shui and loves her very much, caring for her as his own. Since Xiu Shui's temple is near the sea, he's able to visit her when he can. Gonggong is protective over her as well, but he gives her space when she needs it.
Qiang Ming
[ adopted father ]
Qiang Ming is a minor moon god and one of Xiu Shui's adopted fathers. Qiang Ming watched Xiu Shui grow from a young age. He knew everything that she went through and does everything he can to protect her. Once she became an immortal, Qiang Ming became protective of her since he really didn't want to lose his daughter. Sadly, he can only visit her on clear nights but he's glad that Xiu Shui was understanding of the issue.
Ao Bing
[ student ]
Xiu Shui and Ao Bing have a student/teacher relationship with one another as well as a mother/son figure relationship. Ao Bing looks up to Xiu Shui since she trains him as a fellow water/ice user. The two of them are pretty close with one another and still are after hundreds of years. Even after the apprenticeship was over, Ao Bing decided to stay with Xiu Shui as a helper of the Lotus Palace.
Junjie
[ advisor ]
Xiu Shui and Junjie are close friends while the fox demon is also her advisor. She saved and healed Junjie from their injuries when she found him near the palace all bruised up. She could sense that Junjie wasn't a demon that has committed too big of a sin so she offered them a place to stay as well as a chance at redemption. Since then, the two of them got close. Both of them also work together to recruit demons that are worthy for a chance at redemption.
