[#029]Ta'Rakhai's Links
No matter how much they insist, Ra does not wish to fight Mainaaka, ever. Mostly because they are aware of the Vulture's connection to their best friend Ahnkahari. He is not the warrior to fight someones adopted brother, it simply- feels wrong. Though Ra still gives him some spare bones he finds as a treat.
Ra provides Mai of great assets when they do decide to trade goods. He recognizes strength in the ichgors scarred body and challenges him to duel, he never gets to, as Ra does not wish to fight the Vulture.
Ra'Khai has seen Ahnka turn into the popular mailman he is now. They live very similar nomadic lifestyles and therefore hang out and exchange tales from time to time. He is aware of the location of the bard's lost brother but does not admit to it to protect Ahnka from the underbelly of ichgor society.
Ahnka has a bad habit of jinxing Ra'khai's expeditions with the excuse of just giving some company, most of the time he is forgiven, mostly.
Aera is Ra's lighthouse back home. Truth is, after the trauma of war the wanderer did not felt at home anymore. The world was different and so were their views in life. After meeting Aera, he fell infatuated by the smaller ichgor. Even though life takes them far and wide in the world, they always come back, knowing Aera is probably waiting for him, wishing to tell him all about the new places he explored.
Ra is partner and close confidant to Aerazhai. Regardless of his difficulties in life, he can always find comfort around the wandering behemoth. Ra'khai never judges, it is simply not in their nature. Whatever Aera decides to tell them or not- they respect. The cartographer finds comfort in being understood that way.
Ra has what one calls a love-hate relationship with the king of the vipers. After the war, his political views have drastically changed towards a direction Azurha agrees to. Therefore, he is the vipers client. Ra still thinks Azurha is a terrible influence to Ahnka and that is what angers him the most. But his hand stays low in respect to his dear friend.
The behemoth is one of Azurha's many clients, he has taken a particular interest in the man due to how errant his backstory is. It intrigues how such a noble individual could stray so much from any form of known righteous life. He is not one to turn down ra'khais requests for information, they always take the vipers into very interesting paths.
They have crossed each other in the desert countless times and Ra'Khai has made sure to show that he is no threat to her cargo or job. He may be a stranger from another land, but all he wishes is for equal protection in a treacherous path. Thus, they have seen each other in the sand and exchanged the occasional pleasantry and good. Then eventually parted ways. He traves his azvirinhian jewelry with her, it fetches for a high price in the evo'si territory.
Kali enjoys exchanging goods such as jewelery or trinkets with Ra. When she sees him running at 4 in the morning out on the dunes, she thinks he’s crazy
Ra holds no grudges with Pei, the guard is simply doing his job and thus it is reasonable that he sees him with such hatred. He never has the right papers anyways. There has been attempts to befriend him but- it is a hard cookie to crack, this one.
Peithux hates the guts of this specific ichgor. It is a constant game of cat and mouse when Ra'khai enters the evo'si territory. When he manages to catch them, they mysteriously run free. There is something he is quite not understanding.
Vherashi is one of those ichgors Ra considers their lighthouse. Strangely the wanderer found a home in her tavern and tries their best to come back at least to discuss tales with the old spy. He never backs down from a favor for her. Take the bar for the night? can do. Manage the inn? Of course. Kick someone out, knowing she can do so anyways? Absolutely. If asked, Ra'Khai would say Vherashi is their greatest friend and confidant. If something happened to her, they may finally snap and lay waste to a lot of bastards.
To Vherashi, family was never kind nor good.
It only ever meant expectations, disappointment at any mistakes and a heavy weight of responsibilities.
When she ran, changed her identity and hid, she never expected to find anything resembling a family to love.
She was resigned to a life of distance from anyone passing by, one of solitude.
Then this tired old veteran stumbled in, crashing through her metaphorical wall and just stayed.
And she grew way too fond of him.
He is someone she can share with what no one else knows, someone she trusts whole heartedly.
When days are rough he is always there to bring comfort, and kick ass when customers get way too rowdy.
She always has a room available with his name on it, no one else ever occupies it, it will always be his.
Ra will be the closest she will ever get to a proper family.
(Plus she gets to bully him.)
This little alpha, strange one he is, Ra finds his - out of touch self very intriguing. Experiencing the world for the first time as he is, it is something fun to witness. He tries to tell him tales of his adventures, sometimes, carving a thing or two for him. What he doesn't know is that Lady Gescha gave the wanderer explicit orders to look after the alpha. She is afraid he may get in trouble, and the behemoth never wishes to disappoint or sadden her.
When Lys first met Ra, it was at the hand of Lady Gescha. Ra was the first non-Valhakrys ichgor Lys had ever met face to face. He was fascinated by the behemoth and, while a little awkward aruond him, enjoyed the time they spent together. He tries to return the kindness that Ra gives with his own, even returning gifts.
After Ra tore Lys away from Pei, Lys resented him for a few years. Even though he was resentful, a part of him is also grateful that Ra didn't do anything worse to him. He understands why Ra did what he did, but that doesn't stop him from feeling a little bitter about it.
Ra'Khai sometimes gets taken in by the sentinel and he gets to do odd jobs at their temple. One would say the wanderer is a terrible influence. Accidents of both ending up drunk in the cellar is not rare. Ra tries to be as respectful as one can muster for an ichgor that stopped being very religious long ago. Fixing up the place is specifically fun, because he gets to see Kayzah at work from the distance, and he doesn't accidentally scare the children away with his looks.
For Ra'Khai, this miss is what he calls a charming presence in the deserts. There is something about her upbeat attitude that just never fails to bring a smile on her face. The evo'si folk sometimes give him odd looks for his race, she never did that. For her kindness he likes to help her find her way back home. She doesn't ask much questions and he is very thankful for that.
Aris'haeta thinks Ra'khai is an awesome guy, even if he's a bit mysterious. He's quite the lifesaver to any semblance of a schedule Ari has, often showing up when she's about to get herself unforgivably lost and journeys with her back on track. Him and Pei seem to have a rivalry that she doesn't quite understand, but she won't rest until they're best friends.
Pharah, the performer from the evo'si territory. They have heard great word about them- sometimes if lucky, they get to sneak on a show, there is something appealing about their work- mostly the confidence. The wanderer has not been able to appreciate their appearance since decades, seeing someone being able to do so, warms them inside. Maybe one day, they'll also gain that type of confidence.
Pharah has heard rumors about the Azvirahn outlaw; most are in a bad light, however there are a few that paint him as a harmless wanderer that has a tendency to do odd jobs to help fill his bottomless stomach. He swears he can sometimes see them on the outskirts of his shows, though he never can catch a glimpse of them. No matter what Pharah hears of this outlaw, he would rather meet them himself and form his own opinions about the cowboy.
Peithux told him to lay low. And he did! Sorta. When traveling the evo'si territory he always stops by the guards' house for food. Turns out he has a lovely wife and the outlaw is incredibly bad at socializing. Eventually they understood each other. Work for food, thats his mantra. And her cooking is incredible. Maybe he overstays his welcome sometimes.
Ravna met Ra'khai sometime after meeting Pei. Needless to say, a gigantic behemoth entering your home, eating every ration you had, and then crashing on your couch? She's met people in worse ways. She knows his incessant flirting is just his way of saying 'I'm hungry, give me food', and she hates to admit that she falls for that bit of charm every time.
One of Azurhas hands, this one hits a little too close to home for the wandered. Sometimes they are deployed together, him forced to abide by the viper's deeds. With that they slowly got to know each other a little more.
Mei has complicated feelings about Ra. They seem to have ended up in the same place with very different journeys, intertwined but never meeting until now. Mei has been getting deployed with him more often for the Viper's missions, at first being cold, with heir conversations she's becoming more warm. Who knows she may even start bringing snacks o the road to share with him.
The wanderer has been on Nymoras ships with his partner Aera. They find her incredibly fun to be around- but also rather chaotic. They partake in friendly wrestling and heavily enjoy having some ale.
A friendly face on her ships, Nymora appreciates how good of a crewmate Ra'khai could be, maybe if he finally accepted her offer and became part of her crew... oh well. Big guy, do whatever you wish.
Familiar of him only because their boyfriend mentions him sometimes, he may be aware of certain things on the passing but his continued wandering have not let Ra meet them. The wanderer has a complicated opinion about exiles, so the existence of someone like Toku'Keme does not amuse them in the slightest.
Their only connection to each other is through Aera; however, the alpha has not mentioned much about him, so he has very limited information about the behemoth. His journeys keep him busy, so he has no real incentive to meet Ra'khai. However, Toku keeps hearing tales about him and how always leaves a good impression.
Murai is the vet for Ra'khais hellish animals. They are not very proud to admit some of their scars came from their mounts. The ichgor doesn't ask too many questions, is affordable and prioritizes health of the animal, which is exactly what the outlaw needs at the moment. he really cannot afford the guards on their tail again-
Although Ra's animals are... Not Murai's favourite, they still try their best to give them the same care as they do any other animal. When they let her, of course. Ra'khai on the other hand, IS one of their favourite clients. That's partially because of the quick payment, but Murai also finds some of Ra's inventions absolutely fascinating. They make the pecks that she receives worth it, in her eyes.
Ra knows the storyteller through Gescha and his man's visits to the Estate in his life. They have formed quite a nice friendship throughout the years, so Ra exchanges his tales for some of the folklore Saunek spreads around. They both appreciate myths. Especially related to their different angles to religion.
Sau noticed the orange behemoth's appearance during the times he'd visit lady Gescha's estates. Their small talks in passing led to somewhat of a friendship between them over time. They discuss his delicately woven stories together and he enjoys hearing what the man has to say about them, making comments on the differences between eachother's religions and death cultures. He's dabbled in the idea of including some of Ra's perspective within his writings.
