Formerly part of Clan Daggett and heir to their legacy, now a rogue mercenary and bounty hunter!
(despite not being what he wants to do with his life but he's gotta make ends meet somehow...?!)
Vid left his clan because he didn't identify with their customs and out of fear that they'd never accept him for what or who he truly wanted to be. He took on the nickname "Vid" to gain a bit more individuality. His full name is David Daggett however he doesn't share it with anyone.
Despite being happier now he does feel some amount of shame for leaving his family behind without warning and ignoring his responsibilities.
A big part of their clan's culture was their blade craftsmanship so when he left Vid brought one of their beskads despite his lack of skill in handling sabers. He did so to remind himself of his origins after everything.
His armor was repainted to how it looks currently by his togruta friend Shosan whom he'd met after a few months of roaming the galaxy all by himself. The two of them have grown really close since then Vid even having allowed him to repaint his armor to conceal his alliance with clan Daguett but also as a sign of trust (Shosan, being a funky artist, had been eager to repaint it for a while). While repainting his Armor, Shosan did some research on Mandalorian culture and found out about jaig eyes which are a sigil that is usually given to warriors by clan leaders after they've achieved acts of bravery and decided to add them onto his helmet (the red triangle shapes above his visor) as a way of showing the admiration he has for him!
(There may or may not be some romantic tension between them......)
