Ex-military personnel from Sargon, Pebble was discharged after an injury she received didn’t heal properly. After leaving Sargon she decided to work as a mercenary for a bit before she learned she can contract Oripathy and decided to head to Rhodes Island to receive treatment after hearing other people speak about it.

She now works as a defender operator for Rhodes Island and occasionally helps in the training of operators despite not officially being a part of the training staff.

Analysis:

Imaging test for Pebble showed blurry outline of internal organs with visible unusual dark spots. Unusually high concentrations of Originium particles were present in her circulation, indicating signs of infection and confirming her as infected at this stage.

Pebble's infection was caused by an untreated injury during her time in the Sargon military. This same injury has led to major nerve damage in both arms and hands. She has almost no function in her left hand and is unable to hold cutlery or even a pen. Her right hand is only slightly better where as she can at least hold a pen but with great difficulty and her handwriting ends up being illegible. Her shield and weapons however have been adapted so she is able to wield them the same way an abled operator would. Also, she is still capable and strong and has gone toe to toe sparing with operator Dur-Nar before.

Prior to joining Rhodes Island and her injury Pebble had joined the Sargon military right out of school. Though her immediate family wasn’t a military family, she has other distant family members who were and loved hearing their stories of heroics as a child. Thus, it had become her life goal to join the military as soon as possible.

She excelled in her military training and was able to ascend the ranks quickly.

Most of those stationed with Pebble were not fond of her. Often she was looked down upon due to her size and being a girl also didn't help much. And animosities only grew the higher in rank she became.

She soon made it to the rank of lieutenant and was sent out with her platoon on a mission that was more dangerous than the group was told and could have expected.

By the time the Pebble realized the full extent of the situation her platoon was in, it was too late. She couldn't safely call a retreat. All she and her men could do was take cover as the sound of artillery rang out around them.

And then the single most life-changing event took place. A single explosive Originium weapon landed near the groups hiding spot.

Pebble has said it felt like her body moved on its own as she blocked the younger recruits from the last.

Shrapnel from the blast was buried deep into her back.

Despite the searing pain the feline blacked out and woke up days later in the infirmary

The shrapnel from the explosive was too close to her spine for the doctors to feel comfortable doing the operation meaning she would have to live with the bits of metal and Originium in her back until the day she died.

Pebble was surprised by the fact she wasn't thrown out right then and then due to the fact she was effectively infected.

The following months were full of recovery, oripathy tests and physical therapy until it was decided pebble, was well enough to leave.

It was also during her recovery that Pebble had time to think. She thought about her place in the military and in turn the place of war in the current age. She found it hard to let go of her idealized version of the military but also realized in turn how it was a corrupt force. Even as she had given her life to her country she knew she would have to leave and would never be regarded as a hero due to the fact her mission would be covered up and nothing would stop her from being vilified as an infected.

These were two of the main driving forces that lead Pebble to leave Sargon once she had recovered.

After leaving Sargon Pebble would travel around and work as a mercenary. During this time her oripathy would begin to spread, and she found it harder and harder to use her arms as she dealt with pain not only from her oripathy but her nerve damage.

Eventually, she was told about Rhodes Island and decided to apply to work there as an operator as she received medical treatment.

Promotion Record

Recently Pebble has taken to doing occasional appointments of physical therapy, though it seems rather impossible she will ever have proper use of her hands again. The engineering department has been working to make her some assistive deceived to give her some use of her hands once more.
