Personality

Positive Traits
positive >
    >> Intelligent > Ghost is constantly on the hunt for new information to digest, and he uses what he learns to its full potential. He dislikes it when he can't understand or comprehend an idea, and he will dwell on the idea until he can make sense of it. He knows just about everything and remembers what someone tells him, making his information incredibly reliable.
    >> Dedicated > Once he sets his mind to something, Ghost will get it done. Not only that, but he'll ensure that it gets done right and in a timely fashion. He hates when things don't get finished and will often end up picking up others' work as well, and even if he did most of the work, he'll end up shrugging it off, just thankful for it to be done and correct.
    >> Alert > He picks up on the slightest of cues, from the change in the wind and scents to something a subtle hint of a frown on a cats' muzzle. Ghost doesn't let anything escape his eye, and should it need acting upon, then he will act upon it. It makes it easier for him to handle situations and act upon them accordingly.

neutral >
    >> Impassive > Ghost has a resting angry face, and he doesn't portray any other form of emotions. Of course, he does experience ranges of emotions, but he never feels the need to express them, or perhaps he doesn't know how to. This makes it difficult to read what he's feeling in the moment, but at least his enemies can't tell whether he is fazed or not.
    >> Stubborn > He is not only quick to make decisions, but once he decides them, he is not easy to sway another direction. Ghost believes that indecisiveness and lack of information is dangerous and costly in time, so he believes in one way and one way only, which is the first way. Only a few things can change his mind, but it's a feat in finding out how to change his mind in the first place.
    >> Formal > He never really relaxes into a friendly tone, always keeping up formalities even when speaking with his family. Ghost likes to keep things professional, and he feels most comfortable when there is less tomfoolery. This isn't to say he doesn't know what humor is, but his humor is more difficult to identify, as he would tell a joke in the same tone as he would information about an enemy clan.

negative >
    >> Aloof > Ghost not only looks angry, but he radiates that negative and cold atmosphere off of him. He's incredibly difficult to approach for anything, especially given that he would stare at others with the same, hard glare. Worse, he seems completely aware of his attitude and how it affects how others see it, but he is perfectly content with it and sees no reason to change it.
    >> Possessive > Once he becomes attached to something, he wants it all for himself. Ghost hates to share, and even worse, he despises anyone that hurts the ones he loves. He makes sworn enemies simply out of his possessiveness, and it makes it extremely difficult to determine what is okay to talk with him about.
    >> Judgmental > Ghost has a terrible tendency to make judgments too quickly and set them into his mind--often bad judgments. He tends to look at the cons of a cat first, and the pros second, and if the cons outweigh the pros, then they are immediately put on his dislike list. While this doesn't mean he would ignore the cats, he certainly won't like interacting with them.

kithood [ 0 - 6 moons ] >
Webkit was barely a day old when his parent, Oceancall, passed away. They had just enough strength to give him his name, which was given to him after his deceased father, Webcreek. With nothing but a name to him, Lightember stepped in and adopted Webkit. After all, she had just recently adopted three other kits, what was one more?
Webkit became attached to Lightember the moment he opened his eyes. He didn't much care for his adoptive siblings, Minkkit, Weaselkit, and Fisherkit. He especially had a problem with Minkkit. Why didn't he call Lightember mom? Doesn't he know what all she's done for him by taking him and his littermates in? He couldn't believe Minkkit's lack of appreciation. Webkit often found himself scowling at his older siblings and their closeness, though he felt he had the upper paw by feeling closer with Lightember.
Webkit never paid much mind to the rest of the clan. When Creamytail left the clan, he turned a deaf ear to the whispers. When the journeying cats left, he turned a blind eye to their departure. None of them mattered like Lightember did. They didn't do anything for her or for Webkit. They could never come back for all Webkit knew, and he wouldn't notice.
But the earthquake he couldn't quite ignore. He held tightly onto Lightember as the ground shook, scowling when Tansyskip dropped Fisherkit next to him. He didn't say anything though as Lightember held them both with Weaselkit and Minkkit nearby. They waited out the earthquake like that, holding their breaths and praying that they would be okay in the end. Even Webkit breathed a sigh of relief when it stopped.
But he was angry with the aftermath. Some cats had died while others went missing. Among them were Lightember's adoptive siblings Mothcloud, Monarchstream, and Murkytrail. Their bodies were never found, so they couldn't say for sure whether they were alive or dead. But they seemed to leave some empty space in the family. How could they just leave them like that? Did they not know how much distraught they were going to cause in Lightember? Even his grandfather, Plovertail, seemed pretty lost. Lightember had tried to help him get through the loss, and Webkit only got more upset. How dare they leave. How dare they hurt the ones they left. Webkit couldn't find himself to forgive his missing family members.
Especially when Murkytrail returned nearly a moon after the earthquake. While the family celebrated his return, his mate and kits terribly emotional and Plovertail and Lightember openly welcoming him back, Webkit could only glare at the warrior from a distance. If he was alive, then what took him so long to come home? Well, at least he made it in time for his kits' apprentice ceremonies, but Webkit just couldn't find it in him to forgive the tom for the pain he caused their family.
Webkit continued to live a life of quiet and solitary with his mother in the nursery, ignoring everything outside of his personal bubble. He didn't care when MarshClan accepted a kittypet into their ranks, or when new apprentices and warriors were made, or when some cat had gone missing. None of that mattered to him. He lived in blissful, willful ignorance for some time, only giving enough energy to play mossball with Lightember or watch leaves fall from the trees.
When unfamiliar cats came stumbling into the camp, Webkit had puffed himself up in front of Lightember to defend her. But then his clanmates were quick to greet them and usher them to the herbalist's den, shortly after Waspstar named two of them warriors. Webkit rose a brow in confusion, and Lightember calmly explain that they were MarshClan cats. If they were MarshClan, then where had they been all this time? Why did they smell funny? Did they disappear like Murkytrail and decide to come back now after so long? He was told they had gone on a long journey for the sake of the clans, but Webkit found it a bit hard to belief as he stared at the herbalist's den warily. He simply couldn't trust them, not knowing who they were. He couldn't call them clanmates. Not yet.
Webkit relished the day that Lightember's older kits became apprentices. He would finally have Lightember all to himself, even if it was just for one moon. Though when it was announced that Fisherpaw would become the clan's next herbalist, Webkit couldn't help but look at his adoptive brother with doubt. Him? Has no one else seen how he flounders and fumbles at some of the smallest sounds? What were they going to do when he froze up in front of an injured clanmate? Sounded like a terrible idea to Webkit, and he certainly wouldn't be one to put his or Lightember's life in Fisherpaw's paws. At least they still had Tansyskip.
The nursery was quiet for a bit with those three gone. Widowkit often kept to herself, more so when her mother died. Beesting had just given birth to her own kits not long before Webkit's adoptive siblings became apprentices, and though they weren't too terrible to start with, they quickly got on Webkit's nerves--Mosquitokit especially. The young tom-kit seemed to make a game out of annoying Webkit, constantly following him and trying to talk to him. Webkit tried desperately to show his lack of interest, even yelling at Mosquitokit once to leave him alone. But whatever he did drove his adoptive cousin to take further interest in him, leaving Webkit exasperated. He had to remind himself that he would seen be free of the young kit's constant pining and questions. Just less than a moon.

apprenticeship [ 6 - 14 moons ] >
Though he forgot that ranking up meant leaving Lightember. The day of his apprenticeship felt terribly bitter to the newly named Webpaw as Lightember prepared him for his ceremony and urged him to go meet his new mentor. He didn't want to leave her, but he hesitantly did, stepping in front of Waspstar as the leader named Charcry his mentor.
Charcry wasn't anything special. She certainly wasn't Lightember, that's for sure. But she did her job, and he figured that was what mattered. He would go out and train with Charcry during the day, but he would be right back by Lightember's side sharing a meal or talking about his day with her when night came. She seemed happy that he was learning and getting out there, and he figured he could put up with it enough if it meant making Lightember smile.
He didn't pay much mind to the happenings around camp, though he noticed his mother seemed to be quite happy when Shrewflight announced her pregnancy, or when Murkytrail's kits became warriors. He watched the ceremony with indifferent eyes. What was so great about being a warrior anyways? Charcry emphasized the warrior code to him time and time again, and yet... he couldn't put the entire clan above his mother. No, if she was in danger, he would sacrifice his life for her. The others? They weren't worth the time. Still, he figured if they could put a smile on Lightember's face, he would tolerate them enough. That wasn't to say he forgave his uncle, though.
What did pique his interest--if only for a moment--was a ghost attacking some cats. He had been out training with Charcry when he heard a piercing yowl in the sky. He didn't question it, focusing on his training rather than answering the call. When they returned to camp, however, he learned that Alpinedusk had been attacked by a ghost. Some other cats had come to his rescue, and now most of them were in the herbalists' den being treated. Thankfully, the ghost had been killed in the ordeal. The idea of a ghost running rampage and attacking cats had Webpaw's brow raising. On one paw, it sounded completely ludicrous. Who would believe such a nursery tale? On the other, though, those cats really were injured by something. If what they said was true, then those ghosts could go after Lightember. The idea of this had Webpaw's fur bristling. He couldn't let that happen. No dead cat would touch Lightember if he had something to say about it. Since then, he dove himself headfirst into his battle training, paying little mind to the idea of hunting and providing for the clan. He had to protect Lightember.
Charcry didn't seem to like his methods, though. He grew increasingly annoyed with her wanting to continue brushing up on his hunting skills. What was the purpose of prey if the cat that it was for was dead? He would snarl whenever she tried to so much as suggest hunting, but whenever he felt his battle training sufficient, he would begrudgingly agree to it. Of course, he would take his prey to his mother the moment he returned, who would insist that it should go to the queens and kits before her. Webpaw could only huff at this idea. She was his mother, wasn't she? She was once a queen, right? That meant she was just as important as the ones still in the nursery. But if he dared bring this up, she'd softly reprimand him and remind him of the warrior code. With drooped ears, he would take the prey to the nursery or elders' den, where his great aunt resided, else he left it at the fresh-kill pile. If it's truly what Lightember wanted...
The cats that were attacked by the ghost progressively healed, with most of them leaving the herbalist's den in no time. It eventually was just Alpinedusk left, and even he healed over time and got to leave. Webpaw figured Fisherpaw couldn't have been doing such a terrible job if they were all able to leave the herbalist's den, though he also reminded himself that Tansyskip was there to help him. The senior herbalist was one to be trusted, with seasons of experience under his paws. He couldn't put that trust in his adoptive brother. Not yet.
Shrewflight gave birth to three kits, but Webpaw never bothered to go meet them. Rather, his eyes followed the apprentice named Howlpaw with the look of a hunter stalking his prey. Howlpaw had been reassigned to Lightember after Waspstar became pregnant with kits, and... Webpaw had a lot of mixed feelings about this. What right did Howlpaw have to learn under Lightember? They were almost a warrior anyway. Couldn't Waspstar had just made them a warrior and be done with it? Webpaw didn't miss the crying Howlpaw did in their nest, or the way they bolted straight for their brother after the reassignment. They were weak to think that Lightember wasn't a good mentor for them--she was too good for them. They didn't deserve to call her anything more than a clanmate.
Charcry also commented on it, but she had a very different opinion on the reassignment. They were out training on their own--Webpaw had hoped that he could at least train with Lightember now that she was a mentor, but no--when she opened her big mouth. She joked about how training an apprentice was different than raising kits, and though it wasn't something that someone should be held up on, the connotations in her voice, had Webpaw rigid. He asked her--dared her--to emphasize, and she only commented on how Lightember had never trained an apprentice before and shouldn't treat Howlpaw like a kit. She mocked Lightember, behind her back. She dared to speak so lowly of a cat far higher than she ever will be.
She had begun to say something in that same teasing voice about Webpaw being so defensive, but by then, Webpaw saw nothing but red. His claws had unsheathed, and the next thing he knew, he was lunging for Charcry. He didn't give her an opportunity to fight back, raking his claws down her face and gripping dangerously at her throat. She tried to push him away, but when her paw touched his shoulder, he didn't hesitate to lean down and bite down on her paw and drag her back. Her cries fell on deaf ears for a moment, his mind only on teaching her a lesson. When he finally released her, he stared down at her with an emotionless gaze, blood coating his paws and mouth. She bled from multiple wounds, staring up at him with wide eyes. She was afraid. Good. That'll teach her to mock Lightember again.
Charcry left for camp first, doing everything in her power to distance herself from Webpaw. Webpaw watched her leave until he could no longer see her figure, and then he turned to marshy lands of the territory. He dragged his paws through the water to wash off the blood, dragging a clean paw across his muzzle and cleaning it again. Sure, he was doing this to clean himself of Charcry's vile blood, but also to calm himself. He didn't want to scare his mother. He did this for her. If she knew what Charcry said about her, she would understand. Surely, she would understand...
When he was presentable enough, Webpaw turned to follow his mentor back to camp. The camp was already up in murmurs about Charcry's return, and Waspstar was already waiting for him. Webpaw followed the leader to his den, along with Egretbranch, where he was asked for a synopsis of what happened. He wasn't sure if Charcry told him what happened, but Webpaw had nothing to hide. He told the truth, quite bluntly in fact. He said he lost his sense of reason when Charcry mocked his mother, which wasn't entirely false. However, they didn't need to know that he wasn't sorry about what he did. He apologized for his actions, but it was quite clear that his apology was hollow. Waspstar and Egretbranch listened carefully and, after much consideration, decided it was best that Webpaw and Charcry be separated. At least some cats in MarshClan were smart. Egretbranch agreed to complete Webpaw's training as his new mentor, and they decidedly chose to keep the truth behind Charcry's injuries between themselves. Webpaw didn't protest, only nodding along with their decisions. He did what he had to to protect Lightember, and he didn't regret it. If this is how the leader and deputy wanted to deal with it, than so be it.
It was officially announced that Webpaw was reassigned to Egretbranch. Some cats watched the ceremony uncomfortably. Perhaps some already had an idea as to what happened. Webpaw didn't care. If it meant that Lightember would be free of such commentary, then he would do it again. He didn't bother checking on Charcry in the herbalist's den, though he heard that when Lightember attempted to, she was met with aggression. Webpaw had half a mind to go back in there and give Charcry another parting gift, but now wasn't the time. She knew she wasn't good enough for Lightember and was pushing her away. Good.
Webpaw returned to training as usual, except now he was with the deputy. Anyone would be proud to call the deputy their mentor, but Webpaw was quite indifferent to it. When Egretbranch tried to get close with him, or talk to him, Webpaw would shrug him off. His duty was train Webpaw, not make friends with him. At least Charcry seemed to understand that.
An attack on Crystal Falls happened. It was the first time in moons--the first time since Webpaw was born--that the herbalists tried to go to a half-moon meeting, and it somehow still went wrong. Webpaw wasn't there, but he heard the stories that those that were told. Ghosts had appeared to attack the herbalists, and after a cat sacrificed himself to become the new guardian of the veil, they left. Also apparently HailClan's herbalist had kits, which was against the code. All in all, however, none of this mattered to Webpaw. Lightember was safe, especially now that these ghosts would be gone. Perhaps he should have had some form of emotion to hearing that his adoptive brother was attacked in this, alongside Tansyskip. But he didn't dote over Fisherpaw like the others. He passed it off as another duty that he signed himself up for becoming the herbalist apprentice. At least he wouldn't have to do it again.
It only took one moon for Howlsun to be named a warrior and Lightember to be free of training that cat. Webpaw still couldn't figure out why Waspstar couldn't just have named them a warrior to begin with. What did they learn from Lightember? She could teach them plenty, more than Waspstar could, but Howlsun's mind had already been so filled with the teachings of the leader that none of it mattered. At least Webpaw didn't have to see his mother subjected to that useless reassignment anymore.
Training went about normally. When Webpaw wasn't training, he was with Lightember. If she was busy, he would stick to himself. Every once in awhile, young Mosquitokit would come and bother him. It only got worse when Mosquitokit became an apprentice and joined the apprentices' den with him. But he couldn't chalk that up to Charcry being released from the herbalist's den. Apparently, she would not longer be able to see out of her right eye, and she covered it with leaves. Such a coward. She couldn't even own up to what she did wrong by donning the scars openly. He refused to give Charcry the time of day when she was released, and thankfully, it seemed she reciprocated that thought.
At least he didn't have to deal with his adoptive siblings. Minkbriar and Weaseldawn became warriors the same day Mosquitopaw became an apprentice, so they moved out of the apprentices' den. Webpaw didn't mind Weaseldawn, but he was beyond thankful to be rid of his horrible adoptive brother. The two could never get along. He could put Minkbriar aside for the next moon until he, too, became a warrior and they be squeezed together once more.
Well, that's what he thought. How he found himself in conversation with Minkbriar one day, Webpaw wasn't really sure. Maybe he was catering to Lightember and trying to get along with his adoptive siblings more. Looking back on it now, he wish he hadn't. Their conversation started casually, and to the naked eye, everything looked alright. But then it took a turn. Webpaw couldn't recount it, but he remembers Lightember's name, and something Minkbriar said. Something that he didn't like. What was once civil quickly shifted. Webpaw didn't give Minkbriar a moment to reconsider what he said, because the next thing they knew, he was tackling his adoptive brother. He tore at whatever fur and flesh that he could get a grasp on. Unlike Charcry, though, Minkbriar didn't back down without a fight. Claws were flying between the two of them at that point, both of them bleeding from wounds that were not shallow.
It took a couple of older warriors to pull them apart. Webpaw couldn't believe that Minkbriar would get off so easily, and if it weren't for being held back, he would have leapt at the short warrior again. The two were brought to the herbalist's den, but after another scuffle in there, Tansyskip was forced to put a barrier between them and turn Webpaw's nest to face the wall. It helped him calm down, at least, while Tansyskip aided to the wounds on his face. The herbalist tried asking him what happened, but Webpaw refused to respond. He wouldn't repeat what Minkbriar said. He refused to put such words together ever again.
But of course, he was asked again by Waspstar and Egretbranch. They looked disappointed. They shouldn't be. Webpaw was defending his mother from the slander that other cats dared to write her name with, why should he change? He didn't explain to them, but Minkbriar did. Even if he tried to tell them that Minkbriar was lying--which he wouldn't, he wasn't ashamed of what he did--there were plenty of witnesses to what happened. The leader and deputy took some time to discuss before eventually approaching Webpaw and telling him that his actions were unacceptable. Once he was released from the herbalist's den, he would be held back from his warrior assessment and ceremony. He found his lip drawing back a bit, but he didn't argue. He didn't care about himself, but would Minkbriar not get punished, too? When the leader and deputy left, he stole a nasty glance at his adoptive brother before turning his back on him to rest. Whatever. It's not like becoming a warrior was anything grand, anyway.
Both Webpaw and Minkbriar remained in the herbalist's den for about a quarter moon. Webpaw couldn't stand sharing a space with Minkbriar, especially one in closer quarters than the apprentices' den was. The tension in the air was so thick that it could be pulled with a claw, and it took the power of the two herbalists to keep everything civil. Meanwhile, there were rumors and speculations about Webpaw going around camp. They reached his ears eventually, but Webpaw didn't bat an eye. Who cares what they said about him?
When they were released from the herbalist's den, Webpaw evidently avoided not only Minkbriar, but Fisherpaw, too. Something about the way they were handled in the herbalist's den left a bad taste in his mouth with his other adoptive brother, and he found what little trust he had in the herbalist apprentice had completely vanished. He went about his duties like normal, ignoring any eyes that watched him or whispers that travelled past him. He didn't pay any mind to clan news, like his adoptive cousin's expecting announcement or the loss of some apprentice. The initial day of his warrior assessment passed, and Webpaw didn't bat an eye. To him, it was any other day.
The final moon of his apprenticeship went much the same. This time, there were no issues. Only a small amount of cats seemed to still be willing to talk to Webpaw, including Lightember and Mosquitopaw. He didn't understand Mosquitopaw's drive to continue being his acquaintance, especially after everything that had transpired. He didn't care. He looked the other way when others conversed with him, save for Lightember. When he passed his warrior assessment, he only told Lightember. Seeing her smile and congratulate him made it relatively worth it. Besides, being a warrior meant he could protect her better, so he was ready.

warriorhood [ 14 - 21 moons ] >
The warrior ceremony wasn't anything grand. It was more awkward than anything else, when Webthorn received his name. Some cats cheered, others remained silent. Lightember's voice was the only one that mattered to him, so he didn't care. Besides, he ended up being overshadowed by Fisherbat, who had completed his training and become a full herbalist. While the clan cheered for him happily, Webthorn walked away.
Being a warrior wasn't much different to being an apprentice, save for being able to do things without the need of a mentor. That, he could certainly get used to. He often went out to hunt or keep up with his fighting skills alone, save for the times he would invite Lightember to come with him. When he was assigned to a patrol, he hung to the back and didn't talk to anyone or work with them. It worked out, because everyone else seemed just as content leaving him be.
It was only two moons after his own warrior ceremony that Beesting's kits became warriors and he was once more sharing a den with the newly named Mosquitobite. He didn't miss the tension between the young tom and his brother, Hornetshadow--he just didn't care. It was none of his business. If Mosquitobite wanted to disassociate from Webthorn, he could easily do so and please his brother. Yet, he chose not to, and Webthorn didn't question any of it.
The weather was beginning to get progressively colder, with harsh winds and snow. There were times when the clan was forced to shelter all day and couldn't do their duties. Webthorn would spend those days with Lightember, or if she didn't want to be with him, he would be watching her. He noticed how she began to get closer to Minkbriar's former mentor, Cedarbark, and an unsettling feeling bubbled up inside him when he saw it. What did that tom have to give to Lightember? He didn't deserve her. No one did, and yet so many tried to pry their way into her life. Webthorn couldn't make sense of why Lightember let them. It was for reasons like this that he had to protect her. He wouldn't let her get hurt. He wouldn't let her light die out.
The weather progressively began to warm up again. With it came some unfamiliar faces. Claytansy was the only one that he recognized when his adoptive cousin returned, but while everyone celebrated his comeback, Webthorn turned his nose up to it. Like father like son; he caused an uproar by disappearing and thought he could come back as if nothing changed. How wrong he was. Meanwhile, two rogues had come forward and decided to join MarshClan: Fjord and Magnolia. As long as they didn't do anything to Lightember, Webthorn could care less about them.
Webthorn didn't pay much attention to the rest of the clan news. Some new kits here and sickness there. It was all typical clan life--things that Webthorn didn't need to keep tabs on. The clan made notes on the re-appearing deer, which he did find piqued interest in, but only for a short while. What really kept Webthorn's eye was the rapidly declining health of their herbalist, Tansyskip. He was one of the few competent cats in Lightember's life--MarshClan in general, really. Webthorn didn't care for how he was giving more and more of his tasks to Fisherbat, still finding his adoptive brother quite unprepared for the job. But it would seem that Fisherbat would have to get used to it, because one night, Tansyskip passed away in his sleep.
