A good factory is nothing without a good workforce: what if for once we focused on the workers who were all once cheerfully singing “Everybody do needs a Thneed”, hand on heart to celebrate the millionth Thneed sold? 1940s, the Thneed factory is at its peak of production. Thanks to the Once-ler ? Oh, it’s been a long time since he’s been in charge of the pipes, the Smogulous smoke and the Schloppity schlopp. Thneedville is going to open in a few weeks, he is too busy now and has relegated these functions to the Cap-lers, workers dressed in green, with headgear and gloved hands according to the color code. • In this factory, Ash is a department manager; she is in charge of cleaning and taking care of the canalisations rejecting the Schloppity-schlopp outside of the buildings, often walking at the bottom of water with a heavy diving suit to ensure everything goes right. - - - - - Temperament - - - - - • Ash is a discrete and not very talkative woman, but she's not shy and knows how to assert herself when needed. She's a caring and enthusiastic person yet not the most expressive one, happy with her worker life. • As everyone else in the family, her priority is to gain money ! She's very hard-working and likes her work. • She's very dynamic and sportive, her favorite activities being swimming, running and weight lifting. - - - - - A brief backstory ! - - - - - Ash grew up as an orphan with her twin sister Coal; they lived in the street and in an orphanage in Sweden during long years and spent their childhood working at a factory. Needless to say, they were always resourceful and know how to live with the bare minimum; Ash, like her sister, was also very well formed in her job, very soon. Both the young girls were later adopted by Yenna Yuntzler, a Swedish relative to the Once-ler : at the time, she was in need of working force for her local factory and Ash and Coal both came at the right time. They lived a simple, happy, very hard-working life until a bit more than one year ago, when the Thneed factory was created in the US and that they have been assigned to it. |
