A short-tempered librarian and P.R.'s best friend. Altair is seen as a menacing presence stalking the shelves of the small library in which she works, shushing any Mothcat whose voice rises above a whisper and looming menacingly over those who leave their books on random places on the shelves instead of putting them back on the cart. Though the library has had to invest in an extensive fire-prevention system, during off-hours, Altair is surprisingly cool-headed, with a dry wit and always ready to talk down P.R. from a salt-fueled rant with a cup of tea. Woe betide the Mothcat who runs afoul of her best friend!
