Cassian is the youngest of the Lords of Apocalypse, and it hates its job to the point that it fairly routinely fakes its death and runs away to other worlds. On Cassian's most recent strike, Cai--a juvenile soulripper-class maven very similar in genetic makeup to Cassian--was appointed as the new Lord of Pestilence, earning Cassian a brief reprieve from the hated office. Unfortunately for Cassian, Cai was so woefully incompetent that it was decided that even an absentee Lord would be preferable.
Cassian's true form is that of a massive swarm of mosquitos, and it can dissolve into mosquitos at will. Like all adult soulripper-class mavens, it can also eat the soul straight out of living creatures and use the harvested energy for magic. Its wings, when summoned, are made of dripping purple acid goo.
