Jinwu/Xiâotóng

When Xiâotóng was an infant, he was mistaken for a monkey with rare deformities. Wanting to capitalize on his strange looks, a man named Jianyu Yan took him in as a pet. Unfortunately, as Xiâotóng grew older, the people of the village he lived in found out he was, in reality, a demon.

Fearing for their safety, the people of the village cast him out. Having been told nothing of a reason for his sudden exile, Xiâotóng was left confused, saddened, and alone. In the end he concluded that he had let them down.

Xiâotóng left to train and hone his skills, to learn new tricks that were sure to impress his old companions. In the process he was adopted by two more demon monkeys. A red monkey, and a white one. They raised him as if they were his brothers by blood, teaching him how to fight, hunt, and many things about different kinds of yaoguai. For 80 years they stayed together, a tight-knit group that thrived off of each other. However..a natural disaster seperated the brothers, leaving Xiâotóng alone once again.

Years later, he finally returned to the village, hoping for warm smiles and comforting words. However, his return would be much different in reality. Xiâotóng was greeted with chaos as people scrambled to hide in the nearest shops and homes.

He called out to them, hoping to quell whatever fears they had. Yet he was met with silence. He tried again and again to reassure them and lure them out, but each attempt he made failed. Only one man came to greet him when it became clear the demon wouldn't leave..Jianyu Yan. Now old and jaded, the man told Xiâotóng to leave. He made it clear that he was no longer welcome there, and that the reason for him being cast out wasn't dissapointment, it was genes.

Defeated and once again heart broken, Xiâotóng returned to the forest to come up with a new plan. He would evesdrop on villager's conversations and find out what they wanted most. When night fell, he would steal said objects and plant them in the recipient's homes. He hoped to make them happy and show them that he was kind through this, but only managed to cause chaos.

It all came to a head when Xiâotóng went off to eat the sun, finding that it's beautiful red feathers would be the best gift one could give. One by one he ate the suns, 9 now gone..leaving one to be trapped in his maw.

Yet before he could finish the job, he was stopped by the divine arrows of an archer. A bloody fight ensued, only ending when the archer struck Xiâotóng in the throat with the last arrow he had. Xiâotóng fell from the sky and was quickly sealed away..however, things were not so happy for the archer. He passed due to his injuries, and was reincarnated as a divine monkey centuries later. Xiâotóng stayed sealed in a cave for 900 years before the seal weakened and he was able to escape.

He found comfort in a new life, travelling the continent and spreading utter chaos. He wore the chains he'd been sealed with proudly, like the scars left behind from a battle. His name had been lost to time, and thus those who saw him in the clouds above began to call him "Jinwu" thanks to the red feathers hanging from his waist. He never did stop his theivery, but he did leave behind his wish to live amongst the people of the village.
