After travelling with her team of other gems sent by Pink Diamond to check up on how some of the Kindergarten Planets were doing, she discovered a lost gem, standing vigil at a ruined fortress. The gem looked weak, and so she stayed behind to help them to the best of her ability while her teammates went ahead of her. The longer she stayed away with this other gem, the more she began to realise she enjoyed the freedom, and eventually she decided to stay with them on this 'Earth'.
