A bit of a sheltered kid who hides behind a very eager-to-please persona when stressed and overwhelmed. Otherwise, Salem is very kind and energetic, if a bit idealistic. He's lot stronger than he looks, and a quick thinker. Can and will fight to protect himself or those he finds important.

Met Ari when they fought off a Mega Altaria that kidnapped him.
