Always tinkering with things/ wanting to know how everything worked and reading anything she would scavenge. for her quest for knowledge. Her parents eventually started taking advantage of her smarts to build things they could sell, and she quickly went around the rumor mill of her potential. As long as she kept producing new inventions her parents kept her fed, but most of the money went to themselves. While Kalmia wasted away. The same rumor mill brought a man from the Pinnacle who bought her from her parents. The man adopted her into his family.
